Equipnet, the asset management powerhouse has finalised an agreement to acquire California-based Quality Equipment Source in order to consolidate its position within the global semicon market. EquipNet plans to offer extensive asset management programs to Semiconductor companies across the globe, allowing companies within this market to maximize financial return on surplus assets. BIDITUP Auctions and Maynard Industries Announce Auction of Complete Mitsubishi Automotive Manufacturing Facility
In partnership between BIDITUP and Maynards, the Mitsubishi automobile manufacturing plant just outside of Normal, Illinois is to have its assets auctioned off in a 4-day sale. The auction will include many of the most sought after items of used manufacturing equipment to hit the market in 2016. The sale dates are 18th to 21st October. Read More

Canadian Auctioneer Richie Bros Ground Breaking 2-day Auction is the Biggest in U.S. History
Ritchie Bros continue to create waves with their biggest ever 2 day US auction this September. More then 3400 equipment items were sold in Columbus OH on September 28th and 29th for US $76 million. The most compelling fact was that $61 million of sales was done on day 1 making it the biggest ever single day the company has had in that market. Read More

After a slow summer the number of auctions picked up through September with October seeing 451 unique auctions globally* November looks to be a steady start with 111.
 
 
 
Wood Wins, Printing Pains
 
September saw an overall increased buyer interest in the used equipment market. This increase was fuelled by large gains in the woodworking (49% growth), construction (22%) and electronics (21%) manufacturing equipment markets. Significant negative growth was only seen in the printing sector, which saw a 7% reduction in interest. Read More
 
 
 
Geographic Selling Trends
 
After a quiet summer the market returned last month with used machines up 15% in Europe. Two boom markets are Italy with an 110% increase and France with 98%. FINANCE
A Bleak Outlook for the Pound and US Dollar on the Horizon
Credit Suisse have updated clients with their foreign exchange forecasts for the next three, six and twelve months. They are predicting a weakening of the dollar against the pound and euro over the next 3 months with markets reacting to a presidential election and market insecurity. Longer term they are foreseeing a much weaker pound in 12 months with a pound to dollar rate of 1.22 and euro rate of 1.05. Read More

Richie Bros. to Aquire IronPlanet in Landmark Deal for the Auction Market
Richie Bros auctioneers is to acquire U.S. e-commerce site IronPlanet in a deal worth $758.5 million. The Canadian auctioneer, who are looking to diversify their portfolio have also announced a partnership with Caterpillar for both live onsite and online auctions of used equipment. The new deal will replace existing agreements and will likely come into effect in 2017. Read More
