State of Michigan makes lowering suicide rate a priority
Written by Monica Drake

The Michigan Suicide Prevention Commission's priorities, which are noted in the report, include:

  • Minimizing the risk of suicidal behavior by promoting safe environments, resiliency and connectedness
  • Increasing and expanding access to care to support Michiganders who are at-risk

We Remember Lawrence "Tiger" Dunn

Larry Dunn was born on March 5, 1993 and joined big sister Danielle in the Dunn family and affectionately nicknamed “Tiger” by family and friends.  He had so many friends, loved to fish, play pick up hockey games, die-hard fan of the Detroit Lions and U of M football, loved classic rock music, favorite holidays were 4thof July and Christmas.
Larry was so many things to so many that these words can’t articulate just how much he was loved and is now forever missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.  He wrote a poem when he was 13 that he called ‘If I Were in Charge of the World’ that reminds us with his own words what a beautiful, kind, funny, loving soul the world lost.
-by Amy Dunn, Larry's mom
If I Were in Charge of the World by Larry Dunn
If I were in charge of the world,
The Lions would win the Super bowl,
There would be world peace,
And there would be no such thing as war.
If I were in charge of the world,
Only classic rock would play on the radio,
Homework would not exist,
And you would not have to brush your teeth.
If I were in charge of the world,
There would be no such thing as allergies,
You would not have to sleep,
And it would snow for half of the year.
If I were in charge of the world,
There would be no making fun of people,
Because there would be no short,
No ugly,
No awkward,
And no cliques.
If I were in charge of the world,
Everyone would live until one hundred,
And a person who is under 5 feet,
Plays guitar,
And goes to school,
Would still have enough time
To be in charge of the world.
