South Carolina 4-H Volunteers' Newsletter

March 2021 - Volume 6:3

Dear 4-H Supporters,

April 4th is almost here, and we’re excited to kick off our $4 for 4-H campaign! Join South Carolina 4-H on April 4th for a day of Giving back!  $4 for 4-H is a day for alumni, friends, supporters, and members to give.

South Carolina 4-H has reached over 62,000 youth with online and offline learning through #4HatHome activities since the onset of COVID-19. Clemson Cooperative Extension and 4-H are bringing life-changing experiences to more youth because we believe that every child should have an equal opportunity to succeed.  Give today and your gift will help ensure this year doesn’t define the future of South Carolina youth.  Help us reach our fundraising goal of $4,000 and all 46 counties participating.

Welcoming New 4-H Agent

Hello everyone, my name is Kendall Winn and I am the new Laurens County 4-H Agent. A little bit about my background, I grew up riding horses and spent 11 years as a member of the Florida 4-H Program. I had the opportunity to become an officer in my club and also showed in the Horse Project up to the regional level during my years as a member. This experience sprung my passion for 4-H and Extension as a whole. From there, I enrolled at Clemson University and recently graduated last August with a degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences. I am extremely excited to be a part of the team at Laurens County Extension and hope to become an exemplary 4-H Agent. I look forward to meeting and working with the phenomenal agents, volunteers, and members of the South Carolina 4-H Program.

Call for Nominations

Is there an outstanding volunteer in your county that deserves additional recognition?!  Please consider submitting a nomination on their behalf for the Glen Krohn Award for Volunteerism.  Our volunteers do amazing work every day and invest their time, money, and resources in service to others.  The Glen Krohn Award recognizes outstanding volunteer leadership in the 4-H program. It is named for the late Dr. Glen Krohn, retired Assistant Director, Family and Youth Development. Dr. Krohn was a strong believer in volunteers throughout his career. To nominate a volunteer, submit a one-page overview of the volunteer’s accomplishments by May 3rd!
