Early this year TKG focused on partnership with the Amercian Medical Group Association (AMGA) whose membership includes over 435 of the leading health systems representing 120 million patients – one third of the US population. The partnership between TKG and AMGA is the platform for a unique life science-health system engagement model that enables industry to participate in the AMGA mission to advance high performance health. The 2015 Rheumatoid Arthritis and Heart Failure collaboratives will expand into oncology and diabetes, and will have several national and regional formats enabling the life science participants to gain insight into system needs and gaps that align with the industry services and tools – a real win-win opportunity.
At AMGA’s annual conference this year, TKG convened a health system leader breakfast with our industry partners. The breakfast agenda included future healthcare trends, partnership models between payers and health systems, and opportunities for industry. TKG has hosted similar informal events that have proven beneficial to all participants, and this was no exception. Key learnings and enhanced relationships will be translated into programs valuable to all elements of healthcare delivery.
TKG kicked off another 2016 initiative to provide our industry clients a greater understanding of the financial impact of the volume to value healthcare movement. The TKG whitepaper, “Emerging Payment Models,” is an in-depth look at the changing landscape of payment models and the impacts of each on data management, systems of care, and provider accountability. As payment changes, an opportunity arises for pharma to build valuable programs that address quality and patient engagement gaps. It’s available in our Resource Center for complimentary download. TKG will also be sponsoring a panel with leading payers and providers at the May eyeforpharma conference to discuss payment reform. More to come in 2016.

With the introduction of this legislation, there is a fundamental need to change the culture of how medicine is delivered. Providers need to re-train themselves to administer only necessary testing and to understand the new meaning of “value.” Read more on our blog about what MACRA means for the future of care delivery.
