 Term 3 2020, Week 3
August 6th, 2020
Kia ora koutou,

At long last we are in a settled state here at school. Core curriculum programmes are up and running and the school is a buzz of excited learning.

Mid Year Reports and Parent Interviews
Teachers have almost completed mid year reports for all students. This year, the format has changed to take into consideration the disrupted first half of the year. These reports will be coming home next week.
For those that wish to discuss the reports or anything else, we are holding Parent/Teacher Interviews in week five. These are scheduled for Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th of August. A message will be sent home in the coming days about how to book these interviews.

Buildings Update
Against the trend, the trees on the field were felled ahead of schedule! A reminder that from next week, there will be a major construction zone fenced off at the Kereru Road end of the school. There will be an increased level of trade traffic and machinery within this zone and also along the roadside. Please exercise patience and caution during this time. If you see anything that is a safety concern, please let the office know so that we can address this.

School Docs - Parents and Whānau Section
When you log into school docs (Username: MKK, Password: 8749700) it can be quite daunting to know what it is all about. A great place to start is the Parents and Whānau Section which can be found in the menu on the left hand side. This page gives you a summary about School Docs. At the bottom of the page is a link 'Quick Links for Parents'. This page outlines some useful policies and procedures for parents. I encourage you to take the time to look at this.

School Field
You may have noticed (or heard your children talk about) the school field being closed off. Due to issues with the irrigation along with the drought, our field has suffered. At present we are managing the field so that we can control the amount of mud being brought back into classrooms and outdoor matting areas. Once the first of the buildings is completed, we will be able to focus on reinstating the full field for use.
Cross Country
We have two Cross Country events coming up. The school cross country is scheduled for the afternoon of Monday 24th August, and the Kereru Cross Country on Friday 28th of August. Further details of these events will be coming home on Monday. I look forward to seeing many of you at these events.

Drop your old phone into the box in the office........
It is estimated that each year up to three million phones become obsolete in NZ, of those only 2% are recycled.
Phones collected help our school gain valuable rewards and the environment benefits as well keeping our landfills free of mobile phones and their array of hazardous toxic substances.
