An extra special congratulations to Pippa Campbell who was the overall champion of the cluster athletics. Well done Pippa.

Maraekakaho School Curriculum Review
Many thanks to those families who gave feedback on our consultation document via the survey. This information will be reviewed by the board of trustees and leadership team, this will dictate the next steps that we take with the review of the Maraekakaho Curriculum. We will communicate an update with you once this has been done.

Classroom Teachers and Year Levels for 2021
We have had a number of new enrolments over the past two weeks meaning a few adjustments to our class planning for 2021. We will finalise these lists by the end of this week and send home class placements and stationery lists early next week.
2021 will bring some disruptions to physical classroom spaces, particularly for Rooms 1, 2 and 3 that are being demolished once school breaks up. We look forward to the end result of the new classrooms being completed and occupied!

Student Reports
Teachers have been putting in some big hours over the last five weeks as they complete the end of year reports for each student. These are being finalised over the next week and will be sent home the week beginning 7th December. These reports will summarise student achievement during the year.

Pool Update
The pool water quality is up to the required standard and the pool is now open. Keys are available to be purchased by the community for use outside of school hours from tomorrow. Unfortunately the pool will be closed during the asbestos removal from the Junior Block between 17th and 22nd of December, see further information below.

Asbestos Removal and Demolition

With the completion of the senior block imminent, plans are underway for the next step of our property development. Rooms 1, 2 and 3 are required to be vacated so that the demolition process can begin once school has finished for the year.
The demolition period is from 17th December through to the 22nd of December. This demolition includes the removal of Asbestos and the Ministry of Education contractors have instructed us that the site is to be closed off to the public during this time. This will mean the whole school site should not be accessed during this time. To clarify, no one will be allowed on the school property from 17th December through to the 22nd of December.

Drop your old phone into the box in the office........
It is estimated that each year up to three million phones become obsolete in NZ, of those only 2% are recycled.
Phones collected help our school gain valuable rewards and the environment benefits as well keeping our landfills free of mobile phones and their array of hazardous toxic substances.
