So Others May Thrive!
Connecting with MBI
Students at YWAM Tyler, TX

One Volunteer and a Whole Lot of Fruit!

Dear Friend,

MBI’s goal is to see YWAM campuses and their staff teams thrive while meeting their mission objectives. The following account illustrates how one of our unsung volunteer heroes helped us accomplish this by serving at numerous YWAM locations. Not only that, but she also flourished!

Juli K. of Waipahu, HI, embarked on a mission-building adventure to YWAM Ozarks, AR, and YWAM Tyler, TX. Juli said of YWAM Ozarks:

I recommend anyone looking for a warm, friendly family atmosphere filled with the love of God and a heart for missions to volunteer at YWAM Ozarks. This volunteer trip was my first time with YWAM. I couldn’t be more filled with joy after getting to know staff and students. They are small but mighty. You will be amazed if you join in on their prayer, worship, and Scripture meditation. Go and see for yourself!”

Barb Nizza, director of YWAM Ozarks, responded, saying, “Juli was such an asset here. Her time went by so fast, and we would have loved to keep her around! She was brave enough to take on lunch prep daily—eventually doing it alone. And she did such a good job of that. When she wasn’t in the kitchen, she offered herself for other projects and helped tidy up our landscaping. She was a calm presence here—mature, trustworthy—and a huge blessing among us.”

Juli then headed to YWAM Tyler, TX. She says, “I truly enjoyed my two weeks at YWAM Tyler. The campus is beautiful, and the staff so friendly and helpful. The time went by fast. Next time I will stay longer. It’s a busy place with a lot going on, but gathering with fellow Christians at YWAM Tyler is like being with family. Go and be of service at Tyler. You will find that East Texas has beautiful countryside, and you will see God move among the staff and students.”

The director at YWAM Tyler wrote to tell us that “Juli was a great servant as she came to our campus. She served in our kitchen and was an amazing help in our time of need. She related with people so well and was a delight to have around!”

Juli is currently serving at YWAM Cimarron, CO, with plans to head to Cowboys With A Mission in Wyoming soon after. Each of the YWAM campuses she served has benefitted from the pleasure of her fellowship and the critical work she accomplished toward realizing their mission goals. In turn, Juli has reaped rich relational benefits.

Juli’s story is an excellent example of the win-win outcome of MBI’s volunteer placement ministry. Your story could be the next one we use to encourage others to take the Mission Builder challenge and help YWAM missionaries to thrive. A hearty thank you to all of our friends who stand with MBI by way of prayers and support, making it possible for us to continue helping global YWAM locations stay healthy and productive.
