Corvallis Transit offers fareless Benton County Fair shuttle

Benton County Fair visitors, volunteers and employees can avoid traffic congestion and parking costs by using the Corvallis Transit System (CTS) Fair Shuttle. CTS will offer a fareless service to the Benton County Fair beginning at the Downtown Transit Center (DTC), with stops at two free Park & Ride locations. This year’s shuttle will stop at both dedicated Park & Ride locations on the way to, and returning from, the fair. A map of the route can be found online.

The shuttle service will run Wednesday, Aug. 3 and Thursday, Aug. 4 from 3:30 to 11:30 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 6 from 4:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., allowing riders time to enjoy the late night fair concerts. Click here for more information on the trolley shuttle.

Visit for a shuttle schedule or call CTS at 541-766-6998 for more information.

Update: Chip Ross and Timberhill closed to the public through Sept. 9

Chip Ross and Timberhill natural areas will be closed to the public from through early September as part of an ongoing oak habitat restoration project.
During the closure, forest contractors will be harvesting Douglas-fir and big leaf maple trees, and thinning smaller Oregon white oaks as part of the restoration efforts. Work has been scheduled to minimize environmental impacts and to reduce the length of the closure. During the closure period, logging machinery will be accessing the existing trail system and adjacent woodlands.

35th Street closure expected in August

A four-week closure is planned for 35th Street this summer between Sagebrush Drive (the entrance to The Retreat) and Washington Way. The closure is expected to begin on Aug. 8. Signs will be placed on 35th Street one week ahead of the planned closure to alert regular users of the pending traffic change.

This closure will help facilitate the reconstruction of the 35th Street approaches to the railroad tracks. This project will complete improvements to the crossing which began in January 2016. Click here for more information about the closure on 35th Street.
