  • BSIST degree capstone document and BSIST link, submitted by Seminole State College. (Filed under “Capstone Course Projects and Files.)
  • David Keathly’s PowerPoint presentation from 2015 NCPN conference session – “Easing the Rocky Road to an IT Degree” discusses UNT’s BAIT articulation program. (Filed under “Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology.”)
  • “Grit Scale” document and links - Grit is a personality trait that describes a certain tenacity and perseverance when faced with obstacles and challenges. Some believe grit can be a key factor in predicting a student's success. Angela Duckworth delivered a TED talk on this topic and Alice Gross wrote an article on how to promote grit in the classroom.
  • Growth Mindset document - "Growth Mindset" refers to the theory that intelligence is not fixed; it can be developed and expanded with hard work. This is a notion some students resist. How can classroom structure and teacher interaction influence student mindsets? This handout summarizes a recent conference session on this topic, offers some additional resources, and provides a self-test to look at phrases you may be using in the classroom that might be undermining a "growth mindset."
  • Help Desk class syllabus – Submitted by Anne Arundel Community College
  • “IT Technical Pathway” announcement - CCN member school Sierra College provided this memo regarding California's efforts to organize IT skill sets and pathways.
  • Career planning website links - The NISGTC (National Information Security, Geospatial Technologies Consortium, the DOL grant once run out of the same office suite as the CTC but with a separate staff) offered students these two websites - myEDU (free tools to help students manage college, create class schedules, find entry level jobs and paid internships) and Virtual Job Shadow (online career planning and career exploration resource that provides all the tools for charting a career path by choice, not chance) - as "career planning" tools.
  • “Customer Service Skills” course - CCN member school Sierra College provided this outline for a customer service course that they bundle with A+ and a business communications class to create a "Cisco Support Technician" certificate.
  • Peer Assessment and Self-Assessment rubrics - CCN member school Cleveland Community College provided these rubrics. This is a part of their OER "Intro to Computers" course. Students work in groups in which they both assess one another and assess his/her own engagement with the group. Those rubrics are then combined for the grade.
  • “Notes for Website Building Presentations” was added to the “Student Portfolios” section - a comprehensive list (from the University of North Texas) of online resources to help students build a digital portfolio.
  • Multiple documents were added to the “Virtual Internship/Externship Process” related to Collin College’s virtual internship capstone course.  These include two grading rubrics, team evaluations, an instructor evaluation guide, and a proposal evaluation, plus a student deliverable overview and a number of case study scenarios (internet/telco, small-medium business).
