Model Farm

building enterprise small farms and small farm enterprises
2016 #5 - from Nicaragua
This graduating class in Tipitapa says a lot about where you have taken Pontis in 2016:

1 - New location, new students, you reached more small farmers.

2 - New staff, all Nicaraguan, brought training to over 6 locations and over 70 families (almost three times as many families served as the previous year).

3 - Developed the Pontis Farm Manual allowing us to start new classes with consistent training from new Pontis instructors .

CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO WATCH VIDEO:  Pedro tells in less than 90 seconds why he wants to join the Pontis Sustainable Agriculture Program.
When Pedro says "the situation is hard here" he means things like Hurricane Otto that blasted right through Nicaragua and Costa Rica last month. Small, unprepared farms like his are extremely vulnerable to regular natural events like hurricanes or droughts.  You can learn more about Otto here:

The Pontis Sustainable Agriculture Program specifically prepares small farms for this kind of weather with soil preparation, drainage design and diverse crops.

You made it happen in 2016, THANK YOU!

<<First Name>>, you made a big difference this year with your support and the results show.  Farmers like Pedro would not have even had the chance to enter the program next month if it wasn't for you.  Thank you so much.

2017 will be even better!

We appreciate your continued support and commitment to improving the lives of farmers, like Pedro, in Latin America.  We will continue to grow the Pontis program with more training centers, more classes and improved farm techniques to improve lives.  One example of our plans is Well, Water and Irrigation.  Click the link, below, to learn more about these important projects.

Merry Christmas!

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and “you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”                    Jesus Christ, Matt 11:28-29
