together
7 weeks, 7,000 car miles, 8 states, 13 beds, 5 church presentations, hugs and love immeasurable and memories galore = our recent US trip

The main purpose of the trip was to meet and become acquainted with our new grandson, Everhett! That was pure joy!!!
But much more added to our joy, being together with each other and together with many others!.  We had ..............quality time with family and friends...............opportunity to report to supporting churches .........meetings and times of planning and encouragement..,,,..shopping for wedding dresses and additional supplies for the upcoming festivities..........wedding showers and an engagement party!  All in all...................falling at the time of our wedding anniversary, the celebration of 30 years together,  and just before the girls' international marriages we saw this as a "family history" trip............traveling to and visiting all of the places that our family has called home over the years as well as other family "memory" locations all while adding new family experiences and memories!  However, what made it a success was the time to connect with many that we love!!!  While the visits were vast and precious we are aware that there are still many friends and family that we did not get to see.  We were cared for, shown great hospitality, celebrated and loved way beyond what we deserve!  Below, though not comprehensive, is an extensive photo directory of our visits!

Now into 2018............

We have been back in Guate for 3 weeks and hit the ground running.
Kristin learned 2 days before we arrived that the Ministry of Education had surprised everyone with only a couple days advance notice of an earlier start to the school year.   That meant that she had just 3 days to get things in order for "La Escuelita" as many of her students earned points last year and would be spending them on their school supply lists to start school.
Besides helping her we've taken time to meet with people and renew relationships.   We hosted a mother/daughter service team for 4 days.
Dale has serviced the vehicles for Hope for Home and tended to a few house keeping needs in the Homes as well as added his concrete finishing skills to a project at our church.  He and Noé completed constructing a bed frame and we took a day trip to move it and Kathlyn's belongings to their home in Chichicastenango, which will enable them to settle in quickly after the honeymoon.
Alyssa was able to attend a week-long staff retreat with Student's International - the ministry that Luis is a part of.  She returned even more excited to be joining him in his life and ministry!
And then there is the wedding............many details have been wrapped up and we are just about ready to begin receiving guests in preparation for Kathlyn's big day - next Saturday, Feb. 3!

Our home feels much like  a train switch station - many comings and goings and occasionally one has to head a different direction than anticipated to get out of the way of someone else's path or change plans to walk alongside!

As you think of us we ask that you pray for:
Kathlyn and Noé - that their wedding will be God-honoring and for strength and unity as they embark on marriage!  Marrying cross-culturally will add challenges to their union and we pray that in all God will be glorified and their witness and relationship strengthened.  Praise God for His provision of a home and car for them.

Kristin - there are 33 students enrolled to begin La Escuelita in February (representing 18 families)!  Please pray that she will have the help that she needs, will be wise in her decision making and strong in relationships and that all that she does will point to The Source of her strength.  Praise God for a great increase in financial and prayer support for this ministry!

Alyssa and Luis - as they finalize plans for their wedding and complete pre-marital counseling in preparation for the marriage that they will be focused on Christ and one-another, that details won't consume and they will be amazed at God's provision.  Praise God that they also have acquired a house to rent and have begun collecting furnishings.

Dale and Anita - for strength as we begin to give away our daughters!  It is a blessed and joyous time yet not without deep emotion.  Also that we will be faithful in following God's lead.  We have begun to be a bit more involved in La Escuelita and look forward to how God might use us to strengthen and encourage families in our community.

For all of us this is a season of much change and transition.  Please pray that we will navigate it all with grace!!

One of the real treats of our time stateside was in sharing with so many of you - hearing your stories - bearing one another's burdens - rejoicing together!  We thank God for you and for the amazing "team" that the Lord has built up to give strength to our lives and ministries!  Being together with so many helped us to remember that we are indeed in this together.

We are grateful!!!!

By His grace and for His glory,

Dale, Antia, Kristin, Kathlyn and Alyssa
