Arriving Home Session for Community Partners
One of the biggest obstacles to buying a home is not having enough money saved for a down payment or closing costs. We can help remove that barrier with our Arriving Home program!

We're inviting community partners to join us on April 7, at 10 a.m., for a 45-minute session to learn how the program can help your clients and community members who think homeownership is out of reach. Jonathan Newell, NWWPA Lending & Relationship Manager, will:
  • Provide an overview of the program.
  • Discuss recent updates to the program's guidelines.
  • Answer your questions, including which lenders are participating.

Women's History Month
We're proud that our founder Dorothy Richardson (top, left) not only saved her neighborhood when urban renewal plans and discriminatory lending threatened it, but inspired others nationwide with an innovative approach to community development. (Learn more on our History & Mission webpage.)

We’re fortunate that Richardson and many other women have contributed their time and talents in leadership roles in our organization. Community advocate Aggie Brose (top, right), who co-founded Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation and was a founding member of Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group, served on our Board for 17 years, promoting greater access to homeownership and its benefits. She inspired and mentored many people in our community.

We're grateful for Richardson and Brose’s visionary leadership, the extraordinary women on our staff, and the women who comprise a majority of our current Board, advancing our mission every day.

Craig Burkley, NeighborWorks Western Pennsylvania’s chief operating and financial officer, shared insights on our partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks on a down-payment assistance program, during a panel discussion on March 25. NeighborWorks America organized the session about using a hub-and-spoke model for second-mortgage lending as part of its annual Executive Symposium. The multi-day, virtual event drew nearly 450 executives from across the NeighborWorks America network, including our Board President Barãta Arabo Bey, CEO Colin Kelley, and Chief Strategy Officer Emily Lavin.
