Our eleven essays include descriptions of transformative encounters with nature, advice on hike preparation and rollicking tales based on campfire stories. There are humorous tales of stormy weather and crazy animal encounters, and harrowing stories of life-threatening and life-changing experiences.
A collection of recipes rounds things out, offering nutritious meals and celebratory snacks.
Street-smart people can spot and defuse potential threats in urban environments. Trail-smart people are similarly adept in natural environments. They prepare effectively for each trip, adapt to conditions on the ground, and defuse interpersonal conflict among trip participants if necessary.

Beyond dealing with hazards and threats, trail-smart people see the beauty in a passing thunderstorm as well as the glorious color in a dramatic sunset. They embrace all of their experiences in nature with openness as well as competence. Fellow hikers who retain their joy and demonstrate their resilience when problems arise often become friends for life.

As an e-book, it is priced at $3.99 and can be bought and read like any other Kindle book. It works well on a tablet, computer, or smart phone. Royalties per sale ($2.67) will be used to support work by Apalachee Chapter trail maintenance crews.
