Chapter News

The holidays are behind us and another North Florida Winter is upon us.  2022 is likely to be a big one for the Apalachee Chapter of the Florida Trail Association and a lot is going on during the first quarter of the year.

First, Ididahike 2022 is on schedule for the last weekend in February.  Dawn Griffin and the Ididahike team are putting the final touches on our plans to showcase our little piece of paradise to the rest of the world.  You will likely be bombarded with information over the next 6 weeks or so, with the intent of soliciting your assistance and/or participation.  Stay tuned and make plans to be in St. Marks on the last weekend in February.

Chapter elections will be coming up at the March meeting.  This year, we will elect a new Treasurer, Membership Coordinator, and Activity Coordinator.  We have a volunteer to serve as the Activity Coordinator, and are in need of candidates for the other two offices.  If you are interested in serving your Chapter in one of these capacities, or if you know someone who would be a good fit, please let one of the current officers know.  We need to present a slate of proposed officers in February in order to vote on them in March.

Overall, it is prime time to get out into the woods and enjoy Mother Nature.  The bugs and critters will be driven away by the cooler weather, and the trails will be empty.  Get out and enjoy it before the Spring rush.

I’ll see you on the trail….Elwood
