SUN, JUN 5 at 8:00 AM  - ANF Trail Maintenance - Western Apalachicola National Forest
We will be maintaining the Florida Trail in the western section, usually between the Ocholocknee River and the Apalachicola River. All tools and safety equipment will be provided, however if you have special tools of your own, feel free to bring them.   Wear sturdy shoes and clothes and prepare to work in water at times. Bring lunch, snacks, bug repellent and sunscreen and plenty of water. All skill levels are welcome. Work involves blaze painting, lopping and mowing.   We usually work 4 to 5 hours, depending on weather conditions. Should return to town early afternoon. MON JUN 6, 13, 20, 27 5:15 PM - A Walk in the Woods:  Lafayette Heritage Trail Park (Piney Z) - A Walk in the Woods is beneficial to one's mental and physical health, particularly at the end the day. Join us in a moderate to strenuous walk through the woods (typically 3 to 4 miles/hour). This may be the trail to Tom Brown Park and back (approx. 4.0 miles), or the trail to Alford Greenway, Bill’s Trail and back (approx. 3.7 miles). We rest for a few minutes at the midway point. Dogs on a leash are welcome.   **Meet:** At 5:15 near the restrooms. We start the hike at 5:30 pm sharp.   **Bring:** Expect heat, bring water. Wear shoes appropriate for rough trails. Bug repellent may be needed.  **Reminders:** Before starting out check the Meetup site for any last minute announcements. Come at 9:15 am and be ready to hike a 4 – 6 mile loop (2 -3 miles in and back) at 9:30 AM sharp. Bring snack if needed, water and hat and wear comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes. Come hydrated. Bring a chair/beverage for post hike cool down and visitation. We will attempt to maintain a pace of 3.0 - 3.5 mph. SUN JUN 12, 19 8:30 AM - Stroll & Sweat SUN Morning Urban Walks - Lake Overstreet – Forest Meadows Trailhead - FTA Members Only. Fee to access state park is $2 or free with your state park pass. Come at 8:30 am and be ready to hike the approx 5-mile loop trail at 8:40 AM sharp. Bring water and wear comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes. Come hydrated. TUES JUN 14 7:00 PM – Chapter Meeting/Program - Opportunities in Bear Creek Educational Forest
Meet and Greet 6:30 PM - The June 14th program will be about Bear Creek’s History and the Forestry and related programs offered at the Center.  Brooks White, Senior Educational Forester for the Florida Forest Service, manages the Bear Creek Educational Center. An enthusiastic educator, Brooks will tell us about the programs they offer, provide an overview of Bear Creek Trails, and give a taste of one of their programs on tree identification.
The program begins at 7 pm, doors open at 6:30.

SAT, JUN 25 at 9:00 AM - Bicycle Maintenance and Repair Class
Want to learn how to take care of your bike? Join Mike Tucker and learn basic maintenance and repair, including fixing flat tires and simple bike adjustments.   Bring your bike if you have specific problems or if you need tires replaced, bring your new ones with you!
