Join us for our Annual Town Hall this Monday! 5:30-7:30 pm, in person OR via Zoom

Our Annual Town Hall is one program that can truly plug you into all things local in your hometown. And this year, you can attend either in person or via Zoom, so no excuses. Choose your preferred attendance option when you register.

Every year, we invite all commissioners from the City of Tallahassee and Leon County to have a constructive (and neighborly) cross-governmental discussion about where we are as a community, where we're going, and the challenges up ahead. Once again, the conversation will be facilitated by former Tallahassee Democrat Publisher Skip Foster, hosted at the WFSU studio, and powered by volunteers from Leadership Tallahassee. And this year, Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley will kick off the program with a brief piece on voter education to help prepare you for upcoming local elections.

Join us for this discussion that makes being engaged in your hometown super easy! Learn more about the program here, and reserve your spot to join us this Monday, April 18, at 5:30 PM.

Thank you to our Town Hall sponsors and partners!

Challenge your own Intellectual Humility (and learn why and how to enhance it) at our next Dinner at the Square | May 10, 6:30 PM, St. John's Episcopal Church

Join us for our next Dinner at the Square with Dr. Kurt Gray on May 10 where we'll explore the topic of intellectual humility - or, more simply put - the importance of knowing you might be wrong. (Who? Me??) Of course, we'll be taking it a few steps further to discuss what we can actually do about it to build more positive human connections and bridge those nasty divides that aren't doing anyone any good.

Kurt says our brains are designed to notice patterns and make generalizations to keep us safe rather than to find truth with accuracy. This human "design quirk" leads us to overgeneralize what we think we know in unproductive ways. Kurt brings a strong argument that this describes everyone, including you (sorry, but it's true). That's why you must join us for this pivotal program -- and invite some friends too so you can nudge them to consider that they aren't always right either.

Grab your ticket to explore what we might achieve together if we remember that we don't know everything and restore intellectual humility to our lives. What a great way to start getting our groove back!

If you still need a bit more convincing, learn more about Kurt to understand why we're thrilled he accepted our invitation! He's an Associate Professor in Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he directs both the Deepest Beliefs Lab, which studies beliefs around morality and religion, and the Center for the Science of Moral Understanding. With Harvard's Dr. Daniel Wegner, he is the co-author of the book "The Mind Club: Who Thinks, What Feels, and Why It Matters."

God Squad season finale is via Zoom (we're inviting all of America): Friday, April 29, noon-1 pm, "The Skeptics Have Their Say"

Meet “The Skeptics, a DIY lay version of God Squad.” They’re a group of politically and spiritually diverse people who’ve been meeting once a week for many years (in a private location that they're very good at keeping private). Lucky us — we’ll get to meet this unexpected assortment of men who have forged deep friendships by gathering regularly to discuss spiritual topics in a respectful manner where disagreement is both welcomed and appreciated. Facilitated by Village Square Founder Liz Joyner (not a Skeptic) and featuring The Village Square’s Bill Mattox — both a veteran of more God Squad programs than he can count and a member of “The Skeptics” — and former County Commissioner Bryan Desloge!

Register to join us for this important discussion via Zoom on Friday, April 29 from noon to 1pm.

We've chosen to conduct this one via Zoom in order to share God Squad with the entire planet during National Week of Conversation, an initiative that features bridge-building groups across the country gathering near and far. We hope you'll join in and represent #IHeartTally strong!
