Recently in a facebook parenting group I saw a request for good lullabies and it reminded me of this song and the importance of lullabies in general.
I wrote this one for my own baby years ago. But lullabies are not just for the little ones. The slow and steady pacing calms the frantic rushing of our busy minds and over-stimulated nervous systems. Sing it to your loved ones, sing it to yourself. Every extended outbreath helps shift your body into a place of calm. Listen, and allow yourself to simply be loved.
Oh how I’ve loved you all along
I loved you even before the dawn
And with every day that comes rolling by
I love you more like an endless sky
And every star that comes out at night
is really a sun with its own firelight
And all the suns and all the moons
are shadows compared to my love for you
Hmmm
Yes every star that comes out at night
is really a sun with its own firelight
And all the suns and all the moons
are shadows compared to my love for you
So come with me, my baby sweet
I’ll kiss your nose and I’ll kiss your feet
I’ll hold you close and sing you a song
and carry you into the dawn
And every star that comes out at night
is really a sun with its own firelight
And all the suns and all the moons
are shadows compared to my love for you
x2
Yes, all the suns and all the moons
are shadows compared to my love for you
