The Amanda West Newsletter | NEWS & ADVENTURES of a mama musician artist
| December (Part 2) 2020

Hello Dear One,

Here is your December newsletter from me, part 2.
This 2020 has been a YEAR. So much more than a year. And it seems a lot has culminated, even as I'm still wading through the mucky mud of it all... I know you're in it too, so I'll keep it simple and sweet:

NEW SONG  (#2 of the month) ~
I have several NEW RELEASES for you this month. This is number two, and a third may or may not make it to you by the solstice... I didn't plan it this way, they just started coming together. That's how art and life work sometimes. LISTEN HERE and read on for more on this release #2.
(And if you missed release #1 you can find it HERE)

Women & women identified folx: please join our 3rd annual Women's Winter Solstice Ritual & Sing. This year you get to do the whole thing in your pajamas from the comfort of your own home. But do bring a candle, and do set aside some special time and space for this. Debbie and I have been crafting a beautiful afternoon for you. We are gonna go deep, and we are gonna sing! TICKETS *
*NOTE: space is limited so don't wait to register!

Have you joined me on Patreon yet?
It just may be the seed of hope I need to keep it all going. I'd SO love for you to join me there. More thoughts below...

Sending love to you and your pods, as we spiral into the darkest days, and the time of deep winter dreaming,

with a wide open heart,

your mama musician
~ Amanda

Song of the Month (#2) ~

S o m e d a y

A student's song about a child's life in Covid times
(shared with permission)

This is a song written by one of my students, Sky.
She turns 12 this month.

Kids think and feel as much as any grown up, yet their voices and experiences are often overlooked, or seen as less than, because they are young.  I feel so lucky as a teacher and mentor to have a front row seat to a few of these young people and all they have to share with the world.

I was so moved by this song of Sky's that I had to record it (and add on a piano part). The sentiment resonated deeply with me, and I'm sure it will with you as well.

Because I couldn't have her in my studio, we recorded her vocals over zoom, which fits right in with the theme of the song.

To see the look of joy and awe on her face when she saw her song go live on youtube was probably a highlight of my teaching career so far. I'm so happy to get to share this with you. Take it a listen, give it a like, you'll make Sky's day, and your own, too!

Your Inviation   ~

Each image here (+1) represents one of the 7 "tiers" in my Patreon...
These are 7 entry points for you to join me on the path of a lifelong dedication to the healing, connective power of music.

// ~ // ~ // ~ // ~ // ~ // ~ //

The best way to describe Patreon is like a musical CSA (community supported agriculture): I am the farmer ~ planting, tending and harvesting artistic creations that nourish the heart and soul. When you join and become my patron, you make a regular financial contribution of your choice each month, and in return you receive in your personal email inbox, a direct link to whatever musical or creative bounty I harvest each month.

Patreon is set up so that different contribution levels (also known as "tiers") can receive different benefits depending on how much they give. I have set mine up differently - every level gets the same benefits. I know that $10 can mean something very different from one person to another. So my tiers go from $3 - $100, and they're all the same.

I would be SO honored and grateful for you to choose to join me on this path. It is a wonderful way to nourish and grow community right now in these strange covid times. It is also the new way of the artist, which is actually a very ancient way (there are long traditions of the arts being made possible by patrons).

I see it simply as a reminder of our beautiful interconnectedness.
Don't wait. Just give it a try!

Life carries on. Here we are in the remains of our local Christmas tree farm. Feeling all the feelings (and driving the tractors of course!)

We hold those twins of grief and gratitude, right close together.
This is the practice, and this is the way of the open heart.

with love,
~ Amanda
