EARTH DAY. Again. Every day.
When I was young I loved reading post-apocalyptic disaster stories. I think they helped me feel hopeful about survival in a future that seemed dangerous. At school assemblies I listened seriously to every word presenters said when they told us, "It's up to you to save the planet!"
Awareness of climate change came and went from my consciousness for many years, but around 2009 I woke up and never went back to sleep. I think about it every day. I feel the love, and the grief, the fear and the hope. I try not to look away anymore.
My relationship to the climate crisis is an ever-changing one, and most of the songs I've written about it in the past no longer resonate or interest me. I had hoped/planned to release a new one this year, and play another concert in honor of the event, but life happens, and those plans didn't.
Instead I offer this song that my lovely Pete wrote & recorded some years ago. I got to sing the harmonies and play guitar, of course, and I STILL love this song and think I will for my whole life. I hope you like it too.
And, if you're feeling brave, and want to follow along with me in facing the climate crisis, this is the next level I'm exploring right now ~ DEEP ADAPTATION
