Realise Business
E-newsletter  |  September 2019

Anniversaries and milestones are a great time to reflect, review, acknowledge change, growth and development.
In this light, it’s particularly pleasing to see that over the past twelve months Realise Business Advisors have worked with over 100 Parramatta businesses, supporting them to grow, diversify and explore new opportunities to attract more customers.
Parramatta’s transformation over the coming years will mean big things for local businesses, with around 28,000 people expected to get on and off light rail services every
day by 2026.
The fact that a wide variety of business owners are already seeing measurable change, after seeking free advice and support, is testament to what’s possible and the opportunities to come. There is a diverse group of businesses in the Parramatta community, making the already fulfilling work of the Business Advisory team, even more so. Recently, Business Advisor Sara Berry, worked with the Vinnies North Parramatta op shop on a corporate donations initiative for businesses in the Parramatta area. You can read more about this worthwhile initiative here.

A quick review of the businesses that have already taken up the offer of free advice paints a positive picture of innovation and change.
Successful businesses know that communication, planning and diversity is key to sourcing new customers and moving into new markets. The NSW Government’s focus on backing these principles through the provision of free advisory services, a Business Reference Group, an Activate Parramatta plan and more paints a positive picture of opportunity and growth.

The success of Parramatta business owners has a common thread

What do the owners of a mechanical repair business, café, dry cleaner, charcoal chicken shop, physiotherapy studio, restaurant and a florist have in common?

Answer: They are amongst the more than 100 business owners who have signed up to free business mentoring with Realise Business Advisors over the past year.

Many of the business owners who meet with Realise Business Advisors have extensive experience in owning and running a business. But in a fast-paced world, the challenges of an evolving market can be somewhat daunting and difficult to navigate and make the most of the many opportunities ahead.

With the support of the Realise Business team, each of the businesses listed below have achieved measurable results over the past twelve months, including:

  • Carlingford Automotive Mechanical Repairs has developed new digital marketing tools so it can be found online and are planning Christmas and Summer Holiday special offers
  • River Café has ramped up its social media presence, signed up to a new app so people can pre-order drinks and food and developed new offers to attract customers

Vinnies corporate donation stations – can you lend a hand?

The Vinnies North Parramatta shop is looking for corporate partners. As a landmark Church Street institution for many years, it provides quality pre-loved goods to the community at affordable prices, and uses the income generated to fund St Vincent de Paul services and programs that support Australia’s most vulnerable.

Parramatta workers and residents love to support Vinnies through the donation of goods, but the store needed to review their delivery strategy and devise new collection methods to accommodate a number of construction projects in the area including Parramatta Light Rail.

After meeting with Realise Business advisor Sara Berry, the Vinnies team have been working with her on exploring and implementing off-site corporate partnership donation opportunities.
