Second Sunday of Easter - Sunday of Divine Mercy

This week at Holy Spirit Parish, we continue to live in the Easter joy of Our Lord's resurrection.

After the collective sigh of relief that follows the ceremonies of Holy Week, Triduum, and Easter, we can take a moment to reflect upon the fullness of the Paschal Mystery that has been made present to us in these privileged days. The Church, in Her wisdom, gives us an "Octave," that is, eight-days of continual celebration, to observe this great Easter feast. This Sunday is the Octave Day, or conclusion, of our eight day celebration of Easter - and has been called the Sunday of Divine Mercy by St. Pope John Paul II.

Having heard last week of the blood and water which poured forth from the side of the Merciful Savior, this week we are reminded that he remains with us, treating us with tenderness and patience, even permitting Thomas to place his hand in that same open side. May we, who have not seen but have believed, be truly blessed!

Every family needs the support of ALL its members to thrive - and our parish family is no different. To thrive as a parish family, we have many needs that must be fulfilled. It takes the dedication of the whole family working together to fill all of the needs of the parish. Check out the video on IGNITE, a program to support parish vitality by bringing awareness to these unmet needs. Then, take a minute after Mass to view the IGNITE boards at each church. Discern what needs of the parish you are able to help fulfill! If you take a flame, please expect follow-up calls from the parish office beginning in May!
