PARISH BULLETIN
The Third Sunday of Lent

This week at Holy Spirit Parish, we have to deal with 'coming down from the mountain.' When we have 'mountaintop' experiences like Peter, James, and John in last week's account of the Transfiguration - whether that be a powerful retreat experience, a men's or women's conference, or just a consoling time of personal prayer - it can be a challenge to descend from that mountaintop and return to the labors of daily life.

At this point in our Lenten itinerary, we start to realize the length of this holy season - and we can begin to struggle to stay in the fight. Our readings this weekend speak in some ways to the 'long game' God has played in the history of salvation and the patient endurance we will need to successfully navigate our own itinerary of repentance.

Even when we have lost sight of the splendor we saw in our own mountaintop experiences, we can draw the strength we need to continue in the way of conversion from the routine of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving offered in the many Lenten opportunities at our parish. Challenge yourself to take advantage of one or two of these opportunities and prepare your hearts to be ignited with Divine Love!
