Every teen deserves a healthy relationship.
Executive Director, Kathy Anderson, and Support Services Coordinator, Sarah King, were on Ted Schubel's Town Talk radio program to discuss healthy relationships and teen dating violence.

Last year, over 4,000 local middle and high school students were provided education in the classroom on the qualities of a healthy relationship, such as respect, trust, and open communication.

With 1 in 3 teens experiencing dating abuse, and 16-24 year olds experiencing the highest rates of dating violence, it is crucial teens can recognize the signs of abuse early on and get the help they need.

Empowerhouse is beginning work on the production of an educational film that will speak directly to teens, made possible by a grant awarded by the Women and Girls Fund of the Community Foundation.

Not only will this be a new resource for use in area schools, but a great discussion tool for teachers and leaders in the community that work with teens.

Soma: Donate a Bra, Change a Life
Now through August 2nd
The Soma boutique at the Spotsylvania Towne Center is accepting new or gently used bra donations to change the lives of women impacted by domestic violence.

Survivors seeking safety in our shelter arrive with little more than the clothes on their back and rely on donated items to get back on their feet.

Bras are the most needed, yet least donated clothing item for women.

Bras collected through this annual drive will be donated to survivors at the Empowerhouse shelter.

Bras can be brought to Soma seven days a week: from 10am to 9pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am to 6pm on Sundays. The shop is located in The Village outside the Spotsylvania Towne Center.
Thank you Jack Brown's Tattoo Revival!
Jack Brown's Tattoo Revival hosted their 10th Annual Tattoo's for Community during Memorial Day weekend. $24,600 was raised to support Empowerhouse's new domestic violence shelter through sales from walk in tattoos, raffle tickets, and a bake sale. This amazing gift will be recognized by naming a room in their honor at the new shelter.

To make a contribution to our new domestic violence shelter, click here. All donors to the $2.5 million Capital Campaign will be recognized on a large group plaque in the Reception Center at the entrance of the new shelter.
