Chintimini News and Happenings
Chintimini treated 1,634 patients in 2016! A New Record!
The number of wild animal admissions to CWC varies each year, but over the past 5 years, we have averaged 1,386 patients per year, with a high of 1,634 animals in 2016. As our human population increases, and more habitat is encroached upon, we have experienced a steady increase in admissions.

Risk Assessment 101: The Call of the Turkey

It was late afternoon in mid-November when we received a call of an injured wild turkey just a few miles down the road from Chintimini Wildlife Center. The caller stated that this injured turkey was mobile but unable to fly and had been in the same location since that morning. One of the most difficult situations you can come across when responding to an injured animal call is making the attempt to rescue the animal while it is mobile (able to run and/or fly). To read about this turkey rescue (and a potential turkey suitor), visit our blog

A Second (err…third?) Chance
Claudia Benfield, a Friday night shift leader and one of Chintimini’s guest bloggers, writes about her experience with a very special Barred Owl. Read more about this lucky owl here!
