Wildlife Rehabilitation
Recent Patients

Spring is in full swing and baby season is here! Take a look at some of our recent patients:

Spring has officially sprung! We are starting to admit baby rabbits to our wildlife hospital - it'll be busy season here at CWC before we know it!

So far, most of the juvenile Cottontail rabbits we've admitted have been removed from their nests by a cat and required a course of antibiotic treatment. If your pet brings you a wild animal, please call our wildlife hotline for tips on what to do.

We've admitted the first orphaned duckling of 2019! This Mallard had been separated from its mother and siblings and was found floating down a stream. By the time the duckling had been discovered, the mother could not be located. It took quite an effort from those who found it to be able to retrieve it from the water, but we are glad they did.

If a duckling is found alone with no parents nearby, it is in need of help. Please call your local wildlife center if you find an orphaned duckling for instructions on how to proceed.

Two Great Horned Owl nestlings fell from their nest this week and were brought to our wildlife hospital for evaluation. Both appeared healthy, with full bellies and no injuries. The finders kept an eye and ear out for the parents, and were able to locate the tree where the owls fell from. After a few fresh meals and a warm enclosure overnight, the owls were successfully re-nested. The parents have already been spotted, but we’ll be monitoring the owlets to ensure we were successful in reuniting them. Thank you to Mark Meyer for donating his time and tree-climbing expertise!

We've been chosen to be a recipient of the First Alternative Natural Foods Co-op's "Beans for Bags" program this year! This program offers incentive to shoppers to bring their own reusable bags while also offering financial support through donations to community organizations each year.

Each time you shop at the co-op and don't use a disposable bag, you can take one bean and deposit into the bean tower of your choice - Chintimini Wildlife Center is just one of the many community organizations eligible to receive donation money. The beans then serve as counters which determine the percentage of community donation money disbursed to each group!

Shop the co-op during the months of April, May, and June to count your beans towards Chintimini's donations. Don't forget to bring your own bags!

We were selected as one of three beneficiaries of this year's Corvallis Half Marathon & 5k. Thank you to The Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis for their support!
Our supporters are a vital part of our community. We are lucky to work with some of the most compassionate people around who ensure that the animals in our care are safe and healthy. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to all of the volunteers, donors and other supporters who make our work possible. Thank you.
You can protect wildlife, too. Donate Today!
