THIS TOO SHALL PASS
"You can do whatever you set your mind to if you just roll up your sleeves, get in there, and do it. Everything is figureoutable."

— Marie Forleo
HAPPY FRIDAY!

I’ve been thinking a lot about overcoming challenges. Recently I went through a real struggle with my dog, Henry. As a senior dog with congestive heart failure, Henry’s meds are critical. His day-to-day quality of life is still good, but it absolutely depends on him taking his medicine. As life would have it, he simply wouldn’t take it from me, no matter what I did, even though I’ve been giving him medicine for years! So our strategy was for Roy to administer the pills twice a day.

SOMETIMES WE ALL JUST NEED A NAP

But last week, Roy was going to be out of town, which would leave me in charge of the meds, and I had quite a bit of anxiety about how that would go. I imagined I’d practically have to force it into Henry’s mouth. I did research online and created a plan, which of course included some amazingly delicious food—and it worked! Overcoming this situation made me feel like a rock star, and now, when he hears that it’s medicine time, Henry runs to me with enthusiasm, as if it’s the greatest moment of his life! (Like me, Henry loves a delicious treat.)

A HAPPY BOY!

This story is not actually about how I administer medicine to my dog. How I solved this problem doesn’t even matter. I’m sharing this story because it helped teach me how to bring fresh energy to an obstacle: I assessed the situation, created a plan, then I tackled it and made it happen! We all have these situations, and we all have the ability to stop and reassess in order to overcome our obstacles.

WORKING AT NOCRUMBSLEFT MEANS TACKLING CHALLENGES WITH AN ACTION PLAN ON THE DAILY!

Sometimes gaining perspective—taking a step back and figuring out a plan of attack—is just what you need when facing life’s constant challenges. It’s key to remember, when we are in the middle of something that feels awful, that it’s not always going to be that way. It’s important to know you’ll going to get to the other side. You have to ride through it and keep reassessing.

NOT GONNA LET THIS INJURY TEAR ME DOWN

Frankly, I’ve had more of those challenging moments in the last year than I care to share here, including a painful injury, some personal family transformation, Zach moving, and hitting a speed bump with the business. There were so many moments when I was presented with a challenge, and I felt like I wouldn’t get through it.

ZACH AND ME

So, when you are in the middle of a difficult time, remind yourself that it’s not going to last forever, and find a way to look at the situation with a new and fresh perspective. This approach can make a huge difference in the outcome.
