MY TOP 5 POTTERY FAVORITES
"I like the kind of people who get excited over stars at night."
@themindsjournal
HAPPY FRIDAY!

With the holidays coming up, so many followers have been asking about my favorite pottery piece. I happen to have five. And we’ll get there, but first: I have long loved my present closet. It’s an area in my closet (but it could even be a drawer) where I keep all kinds of wonderful gifts for future occasions. I come by this concept honestly: both my mom and grandmother had present closets, and now Lucy does too.

MY PRESENT CLOSET INCLUDES POTTERY AND OTHER GOODIES

Frankly, when I’m having a little bit of a bad day, there’s nothing like taking a look at my secret stash to lift my spirits and remind me of good things to come. Do you ever see a lovely item you know would make the perfect gift? Whether or not I know who I’ll give it to, I pick up that item then and there, and go shopping in my own closet later, when it’s someone’s birthday!

I'M A GAL WHO HAS BEEN KNOWN TO FIND ADORABLE MAKEUP BAGS AND POUCHES FOR MY PRESENT CLOSET

My kids knew never to go rummaging through my closet. They knew I’d tuck away birthday and holiday gifts for them throughout the year, along with potential gifts for Roy, or maybe items with roosters for my sisters. (When my kids were little, I also had a treasure shelf with goodies for a rainy day.)

THIS TIME OF YEAR, THE PRESENT CLOSET BECOMES MOSTLY POTTERY

I’ve been asked what’s in my present closet. Of course, there’s some lovely pottery, as well as things like a small cashmere scarf, a rose gold folder, some beautiful beach towels from Mexico, and a little pouch. I get my favorites in multiples, because when I find something fantastic, I assume everyone I know will want one! If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably noticed I’m a gift enthusiast. I love finding ways to give things away!

I MEAN HOW FUN IS THIS?

At this time of year, my present closet gradually begins to expand into a room. As I’ve advised anyone who loves the nocrumbsleft pottery collection, I begin ordering the pieces I want in August to ensure that each and every one arrives on time. Currently we’re unwrapping them, and it’s so much fun! Everybody on the team picks out a piece they love, as part of their holiday gift. I also love to gift the people who make a difference in my life, like my fishmonger, my hair stylist, and my butcher. It’s simply my favorite way to show my gratitude.

ROY BOWLS ARE AN ESSENTIAL FOR ME

Which piece do I love the most? Of course, there’s the Roy Bowl. I love to use one instead of a plate. It has room for a serving of roast chicken, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, and a salad. And it’s always perfect for pasta.

MOLLY PLATES BRING JOY WHEREVER THEY GO!

I also love giving a stack of Pearl Molly Plates. They’re cute, happy, and delicate, wonderful for hors d’oeuvres, kids’ portions, or snacks. They come in so many colors, but I like the simplicity and beauty of the Pearl.

THE FERNANDA PITCHER IS SUCH A GORGEOUS ADDITION TO ANY SPACE

I’m crazy about our beautiful new Fernanda Pitcher. It lends itself to creative expression. It’s perfect as a utensil holder, vase, as decor on your buffet or bar, or, of course, as a water pitcher. Its femininity adds something special to any setting.

OUR BLACK OMBRE NESTING SET IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS

The Nesting Bundle was born when we made larger and smaller sizes of our very first piece, the Marinated Onion Bowl. It looks stunning in the new Black Ombre holiday glaze. The team is crazy about it. The Nesting Bundle is certainly a bit of an investment, but I love my kitchen jewelry!

THE UNCLE BUDDY BOWL IS JUST RIGHT

The Uncle Buddy Bowl is sort of—as Molly says—the Goldilocks of bowls. It was created because we love the Fred Bowl for meal prep or a snack, but people requested one in the same shape but a bit larger to use for serving. I could go on and on because, quite frankly, I love every piece! But when pressed, these are my five favorites.

THIS ICING SLEEVE IS KIND OF ICONIC

I’m not gonna lie: it’s been a tough month. I’m still in recovery mode with my leg injury. I’m doing everything I can do to fight inflammation, from physical therapy exercises to icing to Advil to turmeric and spending a minimum of time standing. The infrastructure of my Year of Health is still strong, but the lack of movement is pretty darn frustrating. Still, there is still so much to be grateful for.

FEELING LOTS OF GRATITUDE EVEN THROUGH THE PAIN

This morning I had a beautiful Epsom salt bath, enjoyed a green juice, and Joanna made me oatmeal with blueberries. I’m focusing on all the lovely foods that relieve inflammation. I’m not throwing in the towel! It’s been a fabulous lesson in finding grace even when I’m low and knowing that “this too shall pass.”

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN AT OUR CHICAGO MEETUP!

We so enjoyed our nocrumbsleft in-person meetup at The Spice House in Chicago. It was so fun to see so many of you and great to be together! It’s such a joy to gather around something we all love: weeknight eating!

YOU'RE GOING TO WANT TO MAKE THIS...

The recipe of the week is my Whole30 Spicy Citrus Chicken Stir Fry. It’s so yummy with its combination of spicy, sweet, and tart that it gives you the feeling of carryout, but without the sugar. I like to make the sauce the day before and have it in my fridge to use as needed. Teri Tip: assemble the sauce in advance, but don’t do the last step with the arrowroot until you’re ready to cook. This Spicy Chicken Citrus Stir Fry is all about meal prep and does require some chopping, but the cooking itself comes together in minutes. Everyone absolutely loves this dish. It’s unbelievably delicious!
