YOUR GUIDE TO BRUNCH
"Brunch is the same thing as therapy, right?"

— Unknown
HAPPY FRIDAY!

What is it about brunch? There’s something special about it, something that gives you permission to have a cocktail midday and be just a little bit decadent. Most people love to go out for brunch. It might surprise you to hear that I typically don’t. That being said, if I do, I have a firm policy of ordering an extra entrée for the table to share, because it’s so much fun.

WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN FRESH FRUIT?

I adore making something special and delicious to eat at home and perhaps inviting a couple of friends over. My favorites include a dish that’s quite an undertaking, as well as something fairly simple.

NOTHING MORE EPIC THAN MY EPIC SALAD

My Epic Salad from my cookbook is one of my signature dishes, and I won’t lie: it’s a bit of work! Do as much as you can the day before, because it is worth the effort to create something that will be talked about for weeks (maybe decades) to come! It is truly epic and one of my signature dishes. Between the marinated chicken, shoestring carrots, fried tortillas, and my Lime Wasabi Dressing, it’s delicious and impressive and you don’t need to serve anything else (aside from, perhaps, a lovely dessert). I also have a totally different spin on my Epic Salad with steak on the blog!

BREAKFAST PIZZA IS A SUREFIRE HIT

Speaking of lovely desserts, I am crazy about this Orange Cake with Icelandic Provisions Skyr. Fernanda developed it for my birthday! It’s gluten-free, but you would never know it. It is such a treat.

YOU CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HOW GOOD THIS CAKE IS

BLTs are one of my favorite things to serve when people come over. The trick is to get your oven bacon done ahead and have your ingredients out and ready to go so that you can simply toast the bread in the oven, assemble, and serve. You will love our new version that was featured on Tastemade with Pistachio Pesto, Tomato Confit, and basil. It’s delicious!

A CAPRESE BLT TO DIE FOR!

Brunch is the perfect time for an Espresso Martini, which makes you feel a little less guilty, because it does include the coffee. I enjoyed my first one this winter, when Molly’s boyfriend Andrew made them for us, and oh boy! The combination of alcohol and coffee will make you pretty happy. Click here to get these gorgeous Made In Coupe Glasses, and don't forget to use the code iheartteri if you're a first time buyer!

ESPRESSO MARTINIS ARE ALL THE RAGE

I’m crazy about our new recipe for Whole30 Strawberry Cobb Salad! As a person who celebrates salads as a lifestyle, how can I not be? This one has bacon, eggs, strawberries, and my completely luscious Strawberry Dressing. If you’re not doing Whole30, it would be divine with goat cheese.

THIS WHOLE30 STRAWBERRY COBB IS SO SCRUMPTIOUS

Brunch is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate life, whether you’re cooking for your family, friends, or neighbors—or even if you simply pick up something delicious from the bakery and enjoy your time together.

A WAFFLE IS NEVER A BAD ADDITION TO YOUR MORNING!

In this episode, I sit down with the lively and inspiring Sharon McMahon, popularly known by her Instagram handle, @SharonSaysSo. A former high school government and law teacher, her mission is to educate people to make their own well-educated decisions. Her love for the Constitution is at the root her Instagram, and if you have no idea how someone could love the US Constitution, listen in to find out who Sharon is. During 2020, instead of getting into arguments, she created short, nonpartisan, fact-based videos, and the rest is her-story. I’m a fan—and as it turns out, she’s been following me as well. This conversation is packed with goodness!

HOW DREAMY DO THESE LOOK?

The recipe of the week is my Roasted California Sweet Potatoes with Creamy Chive Dressing. I love a wonderfully healthful snack, and I must say, this one is delicious, nutritious, and simple! Did you know California sweet potatoes are selected, planted, sorted, sized, and packed by hand to make sure they meet California’s high standards? And sweet potatoes are nutrient dense, and cholesterol and fat free—a true California superfood. This deliciousness is Whole30 and easily made vegan but follow this Teri Tip: go light on the olive oil to keep them crispy.
