Autumn: crisp weather, crisp apples, the crisp pages of a new book!

I came back from a week out of town to find that it's fall.

I love this time of year, with cool nights but still warm days, gorgeous color on the trees, and that urge with the shorter days that the right thing to do is snuggle up with your beverage of choice and a delicious new book.  (And let's not forget mosquito free hiking!)

Getting back to the books, we've got an event next week that has been in the works for a bit that I'm pretty excited about.  One of our summer high-schooler booksellers, Grace Griego, has been working hard on a Community Service project that involves establishing a Creative Writing Workshop program for local high schools students.  Next week her work comes to fruition, with visiting author Terri Farley and photographer Melissa Farlow visiting and providing students with some intensive writing workshops.

Another component of the program is an event with both Terri and Melissa that's open to the public - see below for the what's and where's.  There's been a tremendous amount of support in the community for this program for students - so much so that we are looking at making it an annual event and maybe even expanding it to include workshops for more ages!  At any rate, all writers, photographers and interested individuals are encouraged to join us at ICA next Wednesday for a special evening.

In Books,

If you're noticing this email looks different, you're right!  We're looking at changing our e-newsetter platform from Constant Contact to MailChimp.  Both services provide excellent subscriber privacy, but MailChimp offers us the opportunity to economize quite a bit over what we were spending with Constant Contact.  If you have any questions, please let me know!  -Lynne
