I kept catching myself staring out the window at home at the snow coming down. I didn't realize until then how much I missed having snow - some snow, anyway - in town!
Then I got back to mulling over what little articles to include in our early February newsletter. At first, I'd thought there wasn't much going on, but now I find I may have an overwhelming amount of information for you.
So, in defense of my wordiness, I can only say that we do have lots of new things to tell you about. Words ... they're a bookstore thing!
We put together a fantastic collection of unique and thoughtful gifts for sweeties of all ages, including:
Cookbooks, Poetry Collections, and Childrens Books.
New delivery of pottery from Frances Cholewa and Tom Meyers.
Locally hand-crafted pillowcases, earrings, organic soaps, and more.
Selection of cards by local artists - from Noa Lish's unique origami cards to Independent Project Press letterpress cards.
Organic, Fair Trade Chocolates from Theo.
Let us help you select the perfect gift!
Can We Ask for a Moment of Your Help? 1. We've got a survey running on our web site for the month of February to find out what features our readers do and don't like about it, and to collect suggestions about what we might add or change. Just visit our site, http://www.spellbinderbookstore.com, and the link to the survey should pop up automatically. Answer a couple of quick questions and push on the button 'Click here to enter drawing.' Drop in your name and address, and cross your fingers! The drawing for a $25.00 gift card to Spellbinder will happen March 1. Thanks for your input; we want to make it work for you.
2. Are you on facebook? Are we your favorite bookstore ever? If so, please follow this link: http://books.sourcebooks.com/readers-recommend-your-bookstore-sweepstakes/ and vote for us. It's been s-l-o-w at Spellbinder since the holidays ... help us win much-needed funds by voting for us, and enter to win a $50 gift card all in one fell swoop! If you share the link to the contest (also pinned at the top of our facebook page) and post a comment that you voted, we'll enter you in ANOTHER $25 Spellbinder Gift Card drawing! All votes for this one need to be in by Friday, 2/19.
News from the Pupfish Cafe: Plans procede apace to completely re-envision the space! In the next few weeks, work on the walls and floors will begin, followed by construction of a new food prep area. On some days, the work will neccessitate that you come around to our front door to enter the bookstore - we thank you in advance for your patience as the work is completed.
To keep up on all the plans and changes, we invite you to sign up for notifications and news from their web site: http://www.pupfishcafe.com/.
News from The Venerable Bead: If you've browsed our store lately you may have seen the increasing selection of beads and beading supplies in our gift area. We're so pleased to be partnering with the lovely ladies of The Venerable Bead to make these popular items part of what we offer to the community. In fact, Lynna and I have joked for years about a 'bead and read' theme, and now, here it is!
Starting this year, Lynna, Bev, and others will be offering beading workshops at Spellbinder, just like the good ol' days! The first workshop filled so fast that we barely had the chance to announce it on facebook, so we're looking at developing a special e-newsletter list, just for announcing beading - and other crafts - workshops. For example, we've had the offer of an origami workshop with Noa Lish in March, which could be for adults or kids. If you're interested in seeing these classes offered in Bishop, we need your feedback! Please take a moment to reply and let us know what you think, and tell us if you'd like to be added to the workshop notification list.
Thanks for reading all the way to the very end of our newsletter! Our next one should hit your inbox later this month - with details of upcoming author events that we're working to finalize now, and other events of note.
