Tag Tournament - Well done to all!

This past weekend saw the end of our '7 Saturdays of Tag' Tournament - 7 weeks of sunny Saturdays for our dozens of competitors meant it was a huge success! Club President Patrick Crawford was on hand during the tournament to support our teams as they battled on the pitches!

With 3 matches on the go at any time, across 3 pitches, players and fans alike had a great time. Well done to all who played, supported, managed and organised!

A number of people do deserve a special mention though:

Alan Shirley and Mossy Davin who planned and organised the event - it was a great idea and thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Then we have our 10 team managers - these are the lads who organised their teams, ensured Covid tracing forms were filled out and were in charge of their respective teams each weekend - a lot of time to volunteer so thank you to each of them:

David Lyons, Aaron Hudson, Vinnie Murray, Paul Pender, Aaron Doherty, Harry Ebbs, Chris Richardson, Paul Conlon, Dan McManus and Graeme McInerney

A big thank you to Conor O'Neill and Lucia Ebbs for sending us on pictures from the weekends that we have been able to share - we rely heavily on pictures being submitted so thank you to both!

And finally, thank you to Peter O'Kelly who had the pitches looking terrific each week, Tony McGuiness and his staff for doing a brilliant job keeping the players and supporters hydrated after the games, and to Marie Hammond for organising burgers for our hungry players!

Club Terrace Bar Update

Terrace Bar update:

We have been greatly enjoying our upgraded Terrace Bar facilities over the last number of weeks. In light of the great weather we've been having and the increase in use of the bar facilities, we would like to ask that anyone using the bar remember we have many neighbours around the club grounds and ensure there is no excessive noise - so far this hasn't been an issue and we thank all our members and friends greatly!

Please see below the Terrace Bar opening hours from Tuesday 27th July:

Sun 1 Aug - Fri 6 Aug: Closed

'Give It a Try'

St. Mary's College RFC are proud to bring the Canterbury 'Give It A Try' program to Templeville Road from Wednesday the 28th of July from 6pm to 7pm - it will then run every Wednesday for 8 weeks.

This is a fantastic opportunity for any girls interested in trying rugby in a safe and fun environment. The course is designed to introduce girls to the sport of rugby through non-contact games and skills development. It is 8 weeks of fun in the sun (hopefully!).

For further information please email Sarah Brennan Fallon at or sign up for the course “Canterbury GIAT” through the link below:

The IRFU and Dolphin RFC have created a brilliant video showing how much fun this program will be:

St. Mary's College RFC U20s are back!

Last week saw our U20s return to training. Pre-season has officially begun for our U20s lads and it's great to see them back in action!

If you or someone you know is interested in playing 20s this years, make sure to email us at

U20s is a great way to get involved in the club and a huge portion of our 1st XV squad came up from the the U20s - you could be the next player to follow in their footsteps!
