When an Internet-age musician unplugs...
Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a great start and that you find this email to be edifying and not at all intrusive and/or annoying heh heh (insert nervous emoji).
And now, here's my second Rock & Roll update:
You've probably noticed by now that I have taken a short hiatus from Social Media, or have at least noticed my absence on Instatwitter, FaceSpace, etc.
I know, I know.... it's a pretty typical thing for someone to react to in our modern age of hyperconnectivity -- becoming over-saturated by politics, global events, and just the general toxicity of people's opinions and argumentative default in almost every instance online.
Musicians and creators in the modern age experience this on another level as part of our job requires that we engage with fans and create content that *hopefully* reaches new ones. We don't have the luxury of simply "unplugging" as our livelihoods are inextricably linked (or hyperlinked, rather) to the people on the internet and social media. As a result, we get caught in the crossfire of arguments, soap-boxing, and "news stories".
I'm one of many musicians who has leveraged the internet at one point or another to earn their living, in whole or in part, since the Myspace era. It is under this premise that I have only ever persisted throughout the years without throwing in the towel. That and the sheer joy experienced upon releasing new music, performing live, and seeing how it has positively impacted lives (a true honor)!
That being said I will be unplugging while I record my new music and prepare for its release later this year! I will probably check-in once or twice but I plan to use this time to reconnect with my family and friends, prepare for live shows, future music releases, potential music videos, as well as my music production business Studio 6.
Thanks for reading and for letting me vent about some of my day-to-day frustrations! To make it up to you, there's a link below this email to one of my oldest songs, "Danger, Us" to help with your Monday Madness:
Godbless! I'll share more when I have more to share (what a concept).
