LCHPS Winter 2018 Newsletter

There has been a lot happening here at the LCHPS office. So much in fact that we were unable to do a Fall newsletter! Please get cozy and have a look at all of the wonderful things going on these days.......
ANNOUNCEMENTS!

As the year ends we will sadly have to say goodbye to our Executive Director Brenda Kalinovich. Brenda has worked hard for this community and our organization to ensure a better future for all residents of Lake Country and we thank her for her dedication and tireless efforts. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors. You will be missed Brenda!

We would also like to welcome a few new faces to LCHPS starting in January:

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Corinne Remple as the new Executive Director for LCHPS. Corinne comes with extensive experience in working for not-for-profit organizations, as well as private companies. Her strengths are in community collaboration, social networking and fundraising. Corinne lives in Vernon and is relatively new to the Lake Country community. Welcome to Lake Country Corinne!

We also wish to welcome Craig Renfrew, our new Harm Reduction Worker who will be working on a project with us until August 2019, and Tamar Swartz, our MSW Practicum Student from UBCO who will be with us from January until April.

We are excited to welcome you all to the team!

Christmas has come early to Lake Country!

Lake Country Health Planning Society has been visited by two amazing “elves” from the Telus Community Ambassadors Kelowna. These hard working ladies and their volunteer teams have spent the year gathering donations to put together gift bags for seniors who could use a helping hand. Each bag contains lots of goodies, from food and toiletries, to handmade mitts. These bags will be distributed throughout the community to seniors in need. If you know of a senior who could use a little extra cheer this holiday season, please contact Lake Country Health Planning Society at 778-215-5247. All calls are confidential.

Pictured are Pat Pickens (right) and Annette Timm (left), Telus Community Ambassadors, and Megan Ross, (centre) Program Manager at LCHPS.

The Family & Friends Caregiver Support Group occurs the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of every month.

Please note that December is an exception as the 4th Wednesday is December 26th. There will be no Support Group being held on the 26th.

The Support Group will restart on January 9th at 7pm. Doors are open to Lake Country residents and anyone living on the Duck Lake Reserve Lands.

Creative Connections!

Get unplugged and come play with LCHPS!

LCHPS is participating in the 5th Annual Interior Savings Unplug and Play week organized by the Central Okanagan Early Years Partnership. The goal of the week is to educate the community about the importance of finding a healthy balance with technology while promoting fun community activities that embrace family time, creative pursuits, recreation, and a connection with nature. We will be attending the kickoff at Parkinson Rec. Centre on Sunday, January 20th, 10am-2pm and we will be holding our own event right here in Lake Country! Come join us Saturday, January 26th from 11:30-1:30 in the foyer at George Elliot for some family fun!
