In the Loop

 We Love Beer Festivals

Welltown's Oktoberfest is back! Raise a stein and grab a schnitzel as we celebrate this Bavarian beer festival in Downtown Tulsa this weekend, October 14th-15th! Get ready for beer from four local breweries, cozy fire pits, live local music, axe throwing and other outlandish Oktoberfest games, and delicious Siegi's German sausage. This is a 21+ event.

Lederhosen are welcomed and encouraged. We'll see you there!

 Want to Create Public Art?

If you build it, they will come … with hot chocolate in hand, humming “Jingle Bells." (That’s the idea anyway.) The call for entries is now open for a new public art installation: a Downtown Holiday Tree. The tree aims to encourage visitors to Downtown Tulsa during the winter season and to enliven and enhance the urban environment.

The prize fee for the winner is $5,000. This includes all materials and associated costs for the provision of the work. More details on design submissions and contest guidelines can be found here. The submission deadline is 5 PM, Friday, October 28th.

Help Rethink the Center of the Universe

Since July, we’ve been soliciting feedback on the redesign of the Center of the Universe Bridge. We’ve heard from hundreds of Tulsans on what the bridge means to them, how to keep it special, and how to make it better than ever. Through our work with urban design firm MKSK, we’ve incorporated all those conversations into a preliminary design concept ready for your input! From October 13-28th, we want to hear from you, Tulsa.

Are we heading in the right direction? Take our survey! And, mark your calendars for our Reimagining the COTU Hangout on October 25th. Drop by the bridge for live music, food, and yard games!

 It's Chili Time!

Nothing says fall like a big bowl of chili. Chili On The Green is back on Saturday, October 15th, to showcase Oklahoma's finest chilis! This State of Oklahoma Chili Championship presented by the Kiwanis Club of Tulsa and sanctioned by the International Chili Society will be held at Guthrie Green. Chili cooks from across the country will compete for 1st place and a spot in the International 2022 Chili Cookoff.

 Working on These Streets

You are invited to a public meeting about a street rehabilitation project to begin during the 10 days following October 17th on 8th Street between Cincinnati Avenue and Kenosha Avenue; and on 7th Street between Detroit Avenue and Kenosha Avenue. The meeting will be held October 17th at 6 PM in the Aaronson Auditorium at Central Library. We hope to see you there! Questions? Contact City of Tulsa Engineering Services.
