The Moth is Taking Over Tulsa!
|
|
Now that is a horror film we want to see. Global storytelling nonprofit The Moth has selected Tulsa for the launch of The Moth Pop-Up Porch running September 21st-25th at Guthrie Green and other venues. Inspired by The Moth's origin— sharing stories on a porch during summer nights in Georgia— The Moth Pop Up Porch, presented in collaboration with General Motors, is a specially built tiny house with a big porch that will travel to Tulsa, Dallas, Jackson, New Orleans, Birmingham, and Atlanta this fall. Come get your story on!
At The Moth Pop Up Porch you can:
- Meet Moth story directors, instructors and producers
- Learn how to craft and pitch your own story
- Listen to stories from The Moth archive
- Attend a community event featuring local musicians, artists, and creators
- Take part in workshops with local community organizations
You can participate in The Moth's special ticketed story slam event at Living Arts on September 22nd! Advance tickets are sold out, but check back this week as more are expected to be released.

Love in the Underworld
|
|
More like “love in Oklahoma,” according to Sylvester Stallone. "Hadestown" is coming to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center from September 27th-October 2nd. Winner of eight 2019 Tony® Awards including Best Musical, this acclaimed show by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today ... and always.
Intertwining two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — "Hadestown" is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go. Get your ticket today!

The Drillers suffered a tough loss to Wichita in the first game of the best-of-three North Division Playoff Series this week. But don't worry; Tulsa still has a shot to advance to the Texas League Championship.
The Drillers — who are five-time Texas League Champions — will host the Wind Surge at ONEOK Field for game 2 of the playoffs on Thursday, September 22nd. If Tulsa wins, the team will also host the series-deciding game three on Friday night, September 23rd.
Starting time for Thursday’s game is set for 7:05 p.m., and it will be a Thirsty Thursday, featuring drink specials galore. Come cheer the home team to victory!
