More Tornadoes - It has been a busy tornado season. On Tuesday, May 4 an EF-1 tornado struck Prattville, Alabama. Mike Kennamer reached out to the PCA church in town which reported that they were okay. Rev. Greg Duke, the pastor of Riverside Presbyterian Church (ARP) contacted MNA Disaster Response for assistance in the response in their neighborhood. As a regional response, the TAG Region recruited volunteers to visit Prattville to help with cleanup efforts. On May 7, Mike Kennamer delivered a mini skid steer loader with a grapple and conducted a field training for a group of church members. This piece of equipment helped volunteers to move large logs. Thanks to everyone who visited our sister church in Prattville to help them minister to their neighbors.

Quick Notes

  • June Warehouse Work Day - We will hold a warehouse work day on Saturday, June 12 starting at 9 am EDT. Please contact   Mike if you wish to attend.
  • Thanks to Our Lawn Care Team - Many thanks to the three men who have taken on the task of caring for the lawn at the Rome Warehouse. Mark Jackson, Jack Lane, and Steve Lanier are doing a great job keeping the grounds looking nice!
  • Skid Steer Loader Training - A number of people have inquired about skid steer loader training. If you are interested in participating in a training session, please email Mike. These can be taught at our warehouse and training center in Rome or, if there are enough interested, can be taught at your church.
Month in Review - May was a busy month with chainsaw training at Grace Community PCA in Trenton, Georgia (top left and right), orientation for our awesome team of lawn care volunteers at the warehouse (lower left), and an opportunity to visit with and share the ministry with the saints at First Presbyterian Church in Atmore, Alabama (lower right). The top left image was photographic evidence that everyone completed the chainsaw training with all their fingers.

Ways to Serve
by Mike Kennamer

The most popular training session I do is entitled, "16 Ways to Get Involved in Disaster Response Ministry". Last month we described opportunities to serve at the warehouse. This month, we will talk about the need for prayer in the ministry.

Your prayers are vital in fueling this ministry! We crave your prayers as we seek to comfort those who have been devastated by disaster.

I am always encouraged when someone takes the time to let me know that they pray for the ministry. I've visited churches where I meet people for the first time but they tell me that they have been praying for the ministry, since their leadership included us on their prayer calendar. What a blessing it is to be lifted up in prayer by friends, relatives, and even those whom we have never met!

At the beginning of 2021 we developed an "Adopt a Day" campaign on the premise that it takes about $100 per day to support the work of the TAG Region and Warehouse Manager (me). This was first intended as a fundraising effort since, frankly, having the funds readily available allows me to focus on the work of the ministry.

What I soon realized was that limiting this "adoption" to the provision of funds was somewhat akin to asking for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but requesting that the person making it "hold the jelly." How silly is that?

That realization changed the focus of the campaign. While we still need funds (about $36,500 per year) to operate this ministry, we are trusting God to provide through the generosity of His church and His people. Please consider selecting a day that has some significance to you and to commit to pray for this ministry on that day. It is perfectly fine to select more than one day; in fact, we encourage it! If you can donate, please do. But by all means, pray!

If you'd like to commit to praying for the ministry in this way, please let us know by email at the day or days that you will pray for the ministry. The best way to learn about prayer requests is to visit our Facebook page or website. We would be happy to send you a refrigerator magnet upon which you may write the day you will pray for the ministry. You can see what the magnet looks like below.

Participate in our Adopt a Day Campaign - Help us to support this ministry by participating in our Adopt A Day campaign. Please consider adopting a day that is special to you (birthday, anniversary, etc.). It's easy:
  1. Select your day.
  2. Commit to praying for the ministry on that day.
  3. As God provides, donate funds to help support the ministry for that day. It takes about $100 per day to sustain this ministry.
Email Mike Kennamer to let him know what day you are adopting and provide your postal address so he can send you a refrigerator magnet.
