Even in the lazy-hazy summer days of August, EFR has been busy-busy!

Summer Highlights

Highlights from last month include hosting our first interval taster session, roadtrips to Newcastle, Holy Island, and Glasgow, as well as course our own glittering addition to the Edinburgh Pride celebrations. EFR summer fun is set to continue well into the autumn with exciting club races, more training opportunities for advanced runners and learn-to-runners, and the long-anticipated announcement of our first international club race!

Make sure you've brought your factor 50! We might even break 20C out there!

August Interval Training

We are holding our second interval training session at Holyrood Park on Wednesday 31th August.
Interval training is ideal for those who would like to improve their running pace, increase race fitness or for general cardio improvement and conditioning. Come along, spice up your training; only basic running fitness required!

2017 International Club Race: BUDAPEST

Mark you calendars for 8-9 April 2017!!! Budapest has been voted on as EFR's first annual international club race! The 32nd Telekom Vivicitta Spring Half Marathon weekend includes the 21km main event as well as a 10km and 7km race. Starting and finishing in the middle of the Danube on "legendary" Margitsziget (Margaret Island), the course passes by the best sites of central Budapest including the castle, Parliament, and across the stunning Chain Bridge.

And of course, this wouldn't be an EFR event if it was JUST about the running! Budapest is a UNESCO world heritage city with a history stretching back to before the 1st century A.D. As the commercial, political, and cultural centre of Hungary, Budapest has something for everyone. The city's over 100 thermal baths earned it a "City of Spas" ranking, and spa-culture applies to more than just relaxation - 'water discos' (also known as 'magic bath parties') are definitely worth investigating.

Registration for the races is not yet open but an early-bird pricing scheme will be in effect so watch for future Facebook announcements. Complete information can be found on their website: http://springhalfmarathon.runinbudapest.com/

Learn to Run Graduation Race

The Kilmacolm Half Marathon Festival on 11th September has a great 3K, chip-timed race that would be ideal for all Learn to Run graduates keen to mark this super achievement by signing up to a race! There are also 10k and half marathon races for anyone else keen to join us. Registration costs £9. For full details check out the website: http://www.entrycentral.com/kilmacolmraces
Newcastle LGBT 5k

We had a brilliant time last weekend at the 5th NFR LGBT 5k race in Newcastle! (can you feel the post-race euphoria in this photo?) EFR brought a huge contingent of runners and cheerleaders to participate in the main event and help kick-off the Newcastle Pride festivities. We were joined by Frontrunners groups from around the UK including Glasgow, Dublin, London and Manchester, though our Northern Frontrunners hosts were the real the stars of this well-organised and fun race. We're definitely looking forward to next year!
