MTE Applauds the U.S. Government for its Continued Stance on China's Non-Market Economy Status
On December 12th, the Manufacturers for Trade Enforcement (MTE) Coalition, which AISI co-chairs, released a statement commending the U.S. government for its strong position on China’s non-market economy (NME) status. China has claimed that it should automatically receive market economy status following the 15th anniversary of its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) on December 11, 2016. However, U.S. law requires that the Department of Commerce (DOC) make a market economy status (MES) determination based on a six factor statutory test. On December 12th China also launched a challenge to the U.S. and EU laws on NME treatment at the WTO. To read the full MTE Coalition statement, go here.
