PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter has seen an uptick in Turkish buyers
Long a hub for international investors, Miami is now attracting newcomers from across the Atlantic: affluent Turkish and Middle Eastern homebuyers looking for stable investments in real estate. According to recent reports from CBRE and the Wall Street Journal, buyers from this region are poised to take a much larger role in South Florida’s real estate market.
According to CBRE’s report, Miami was the 10th-most popular investment market for Middle Eastern real estate investment between January 2015 and June 2016, and the fifth-most popular in the United States. Investments in Miami real estate from the Middle East exceeded $500 million for that time period. Favorable exchange rates, and the addition of direct flights to Qatar from Miami International Airport likely will contribute to further investment in the coming months.
Downtown Miami’s PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter, a 60-story luxury residential development, has seen a particular uptick in Turkish buyers. Peggy Fucci, CEO of OneWorld Properties and the exclusive broker for PARAMOUNT, says her new Turkish clients are eager to invest in preconstruction properties that have staggered payments where half of the home price is paid after construction is completed. Often, details of the sale are ironed out over the phone, but Ms. Fucci and part of her team visited Istanbul twice in the past six months to meet potential buyers. When her clients arrive in the U.S., they’re ready to close the deal. “When they come to Miami to shop, they’ve already decided that they want to live here,” she says.
