Donor Gives $3,000 for Kids' Running Shoes

A Yellowstone Rim Runner family anonymously donated $3,000 to purchase kids' running shoes. The funds will be used for kids who want to participate in the youth cross country season, YES XC, but cannot afford running shoes. Thank you for the generous donation!

We will work with Big Sky State Games (the Yes XC organizer) to get kids their shoes. Here's how it will work: Schools will identify kids who want to run, but may need assistance to buy shoes. Those kids will receive a voucher for running shoes at our local running store, Time Out Sports. When kids exchange the voucher for shoes, we'll use this generous donation to cover the cost.

If you would also like to donate money to pay for kids' shoes, you can on our donation page here. Just type "Shoes" where it says "on behalf of". If we collect more money than is needed in 2021, we will keep these funds dedicated to kids' running shoes for 2022.

Rim Runners Sponsor Ales for Trails 2021

Rim Runners are donating $1,250 to sponsor Ales for Trails. The September 10th event is a fundraiser for Billings TrailNet, an organization that promotes more and improved trails around Billings. Our support will help improve access to running trails in the community.

Upcoming Rim Runner Events

Save the Date! We're still planning these events, so stay tuned for more details.

Yellowstone Rim Runners 40th Anniversary Potluck
YRR anniversary logo Running and Friendship 1981-2021
We turn 40 this year! To celebrate we are planning a potluck in the park.

We would like to invite not only our current members, but also members from "back in the day". If you remember some of the members from the 1980s, please email us at gorimrunners@gmail.com. We are busy compiling a list.

When: Sunday, September 26. Time TBD
Where: Veteran's Park
Free 3: Trail Trek
Wednesday, September 29
We picked a location: Riverfront Park. Trail Trek registration is open!

Clothing Sale
We announced a clothing sale last month and Universal Athletic is busy setting things up for us. Be on the lookout for an email and Facebook posting with the details and a link to order online. We'll have options with our standard logo as well as our 40th anniversary celebration logo.

Trash Cleanup
Sunday, October 3
We'll clean trash from our adopted trail along the Canyon Creek Brewing club run route.

Myers Trail Work
The earthen steps cut into the start of Myers Trail have worn away. Rim Runners are coordinating with the property owner and will be putting in timber steps to improve the grade and usability of the trail. Dave Coppock and Vince Long spent a day prepping the timbers - thank you! Stay tuned for a work day when it cools down a bit.
