Trail Cleanup

Saturday, 4.24.21 12 pm

Parking lot off 24th St. W by Our Trail  (map)

(Near Tao/MVD Express/Topz Sandwich,
across from Old Chicago's)

If you have joined a Wednesday night club run from Canyon Creek recently, you'll know a trail cleanup is long overdue (pictured below). Join us to volunteer for the Great American Cleanup organized by Bright n' Beautiful Billings. We'll pick up trash on the running trail we adopted: the multi-use path between 24th & 29th St. W, along our Canyon Creek route.

Due to COVID, Bright n' Beautiful will not provide food this year, but will supply our group with gloves, trash bags, litter pickers, and safety vests. Meet up at Canyon Creek to socialize when we're all done.

Wednesday Night Club Run Changes

Swords Park (map)
1st Wednesday Every Month Spring & Summer

We're bringing back a fan favorite from last year! We're running from Swords Park on the first Wednesday of every month this spring and summer. Meet at the vault toilets and we'll decide on a direction to run. No changes to the other Wednesday locations.

For some April Fools' Day fun that lasts all month long, we'll be running the group run courses in the opposite direction on Wednesday nights. It's a good way to make a familiar route seem new again! Meet at the same locations, just run in the opposite direction.

Not familiar with group runs? Come run or walk with us every Wednesday at 6 pm and Saturday at 7 am. Group run location schedule and route maps.

President's Letter

by Dave Coppock

Starting this year, the Rimrunners have untethered the annual membership dues from the Shamrock Run. In the past, by entering the Shamrock Run, you became a Rimrunners member. Now, you can join the club by going to and simply renew your annual membership!

Some of the benefits of joining the Rimrunners aren’t so apparent, yet they’re very important. Besides finding running partners or groups to train with, the Rimrunners have long been advocates for the development of trails and paths in our community. We help sponsor Billings TrailNet, the organization which has been developing trails and bike paths throughout Billings. We’ve also supported Dover Park, which is a great trail system in the Heights. The Club also funded the vault toilet atop the Rims at Swords Park; a handy place for a pit stop. Read More

Shamrock Run

Thank you to everyone who participated in the virtual Shamrock Run! A total of 79 participants ran the 5K or 10K. Reporting your time was optional, and you can check out results here. Congratulations to everyone who worked hard to complete the couch to 5K training to finish this race!

Did you get your pint glass yet? If not, come to our group run at Swords Park on Wednesday, April 7 at 6 pm to pick up your pint glass.

Did you catch KTVQ interviewing YRR President, Dave Coppock, about the Shamrock Run? If you missed it, KTVQ didn't post the video, but you can read their article summary.

Billings Race Calendar

It's spring, so race season begins! Spring and summer races are opening up registration now with a good mix of in-person and virtual options. Check out Rim Runners' new local race calendar. It not only lists your favorite Billings races managed through RunSignup, but also races within 100 miles including Laurel, Hardin, Red Lodge and northern Wyoming. There are all kinds of races on there - your traditional road races, trail races, team challenges, and even unique multi-sport races that combine running with skiing, paddling, and even beer drinking. Some races are just for fun, but many double as charitable donations to great local causes.

Updates to the Montana Women's Run for this Year, Our 40th Anniversary!

by Ekkie Wedul

First, it is virtual so that you can run or walk anywhere and anytime you want, with whomever you want! All shirts will be mailed first class this year. We’ll start folding and putting them in envelopes and the mail as soon as the shirts are printed.

You can record your time through RunSignUp if you want to, but there won’t be any awards since we are not holding you to exact courses.

Getting Started Clinics are back! Gather your safe “friends/family bubble” group and join us in Pioneer Park on Monday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 to run or walk around the park. Meet on 3rd St. W. near the tennis court bathrooms April 5th – May 3rd. Perhaps you can help someone else “get started” walking or running! Read more updates here about the Montana Women's Run.
