MVD Express/Tao/Topz Parking Lot (map)

Join us for another trail cleanup! After we're done working hard to make Billings a better place to run, we'll head over to Canyon Creek. Please note the date change from previous communications: Trail cleanup is Saturday, October 9 at 1 p.m.

Billings Parks and Recreation will be helping us with this event. They will provide all the supplies we need and will pick up the trash bags we collect. Parks and Rec ask that we sign up in advance, so they know how many people are coming and to sign a waiver: Trail Cleanup Signup here.

Demon Dash and Board Elections

Sunday, 10.24.21 at 1 p.m.
Dover Park (map)

Superhero running after Robber
Join us for our annual Halloween tradition: The Demon Dash! It's an untimed fun run at Dover Park, followed by a potluck that is a good time for the whole family! Costumes are encouraged! Distance and route will be determined onsite. After the run, we'll have a potluck and elections for the Rim Runner Board. Bring a dish to share.

Consider contributing your talents to the club by joining the Board! The Board makes decisions on club events, plans several races throughout the year, communicates with members, and decides how to best use club resources to promote running in our community. Questions? Please email us at

President's Letter

By Dave Coppock

Forty years! The Rimrunners have been in existence for 40 years. That seems amazing to me as the Club is made up of volunteers who generally just like to run for fun or relaxation. Part of the reason we’re still around is that we’ve always had a reliable, dedicated Board. The first board that formed in 1981 had the foresight to file as a non-profit organization with the State of Montana. That required that we have a set of bylaws and club officers. We select our officers for the year (or two) in October at our Demon Dash. We do have some openings coming up, specifically the Newsletter which Marlena Lanini has taken on for the last few years and, by the way, has done an excellent job! We also have at-large board positions, which don’t have a specific title, but are voting members and can jump in an area where they may have some interest or expertise.

So, I encourage anyone who’d like to help out the Yellowstone Rimrunners to keep going another 40 years to dip your toe in the water and join the Board! We meet once a month at 6:30 pm on the second Tuesday. We try to meet for just an hour and might have a beer during or after the meetings.

Be sure and come out to the Demon Dash on October 24!

40th Anniversary Party

Thanks for coming to our 40th-anniversary party at Veterans Park. We celebrated with a potluck and had a fun time hanging out on a summer-like day in September. It was great to see many charter members from the clubs' founding days in the 1980s.

If running in the past,
Our present will be ok
If running in the present,

Volunteer with Run Turkey Run

Help us make Run! Turkey Run! a success! It's the Rim Runners' largest fundraiser. All proceeds are donated to local charities dedicated to ending hunger in Billings. Not only do we raise a lot of money, but we put on a 5K and 1 mile street race that is fun for the whole family and has become a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Billings.

This event would not be possible without our volunteers! Check out volunteer opportunities and sign up here. There are options to help out on race day or to help out in advance of the race if you still want to run.

Run Turkey Run Discounts

Did you hear that there is a $10 discount this year if you register for both the Street Mile and the 5K? Just check both options when registering and the discount will apply at checkout. And this year, Rim Runners get an additional, exclusive 10% discount for members only. Run Signup will automatically find your membership and apply the 10% discount, no coupon code is necessary.

Runners at the start of the Montana Cup

Montana Cup 2021

What is it?  The Montana Cup is a team-oriented cross country meet that pits teams from each of Montana’s seven largest towns against each other for the Montana Cup trophy.  The course is between 5K and 5 miles; men and women run separately.

Who can run it?  Any runner of any age; there is no limit to the number of runners on a team.  If you live in eastern Montana (east of Greycliff) you will be part of Team Billings.

When and where?  October 31 at Montana Tech in Butte!

Why should I run it?  It’s a unique Montana tradition - something every true Montana runner should do at least once.  And running as part of a team is a lot of fun!

How do I register?  Go to and follow the link under “Race Info”.  Registration is just $15 before October 19; you are required to wear an official Montana Cup jersey which is another $15.
