1. Consultation on sufficiency of education provision for children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans

FAO:  All Headteachers
From: SEND NCC

Increasing the capacity of authorities to make provision for children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans has been supported by the Department of Education through a Capital Grant. The recently published Special Schools and Designated Units sufficiency report details the current provisions and identifies gaps in provision in and within districts and the numbers of young people who need to move outside their district to access special education.

This consultation provides the opportunity to shape the additional provision to be commissioned to ensure there is greater capacity in Northamptonshire to provide children and young people with an Education health and Care Plan access to local specialist provision that meets their needs and supports them to be part of the community in which they live.

There are two surveys which can be accessed through the following links:

General stakeholder survey: https://northamptonshire.citizenspace.com/bipm/public-consultation-on-shaping-specialist

Survey for parents of children with EHC Plans (this is being distributed through the local offer and parent forum groups but would appreciate you making your parents aware, thank you): https://northamptonshire.citizenspace.com/bipm/994ebe5d

Please click here to access the schools' consultation letter on SEND Sufficiency Strategy and consultation on how Northamptonshire County Council will meet the demand for SEND places moving forward.
