There were 11 riders at the Inter-Club TT held on the beautiful 15 km Barrie TT course in Oro - Medonte. 10 riders were from Newmarket, Orrin Bowser was Barrie CC's sole represenitive. The weather was ideal, it was sunny with a temperature of 22C, and the tree lined road blocked out the wind. It was also a night of several personal bests.
In the TT category, Peter Henry was the fastest with a personal best time of 20:12.0 at an average speed of 44.55 km/h. Dave Viney was second with a time of 22:22.1, and JD Power powered his way to the podium with a time of 21:17.9, pipping Dave Pierce who arrived 3.9 seconds later at 21:21.8. This was a personal best for Peter. In the Road Bike Category Dan Lundenberg, after several years of trying finally won something, the Road Bike title by 1.6 seconds. Dan came in at 23:28.7, fending off Barrie's Orrin Bowser who came in at 23:30.3. Also of note, Tony Peters did a personal best of 24:44.2, well done Tony. Andrew Darke continued his return to cycling and time trialing and rode in at 31:20.2 which was 3 minutes faster than his time at McCowan. Before the race he somehow managed to throw his chain in so tightly between the crank and the frame that he could not extract it. But Mike Grimes with his super strong fingers saved the day and made it possible for Andrew to compete. The results are below, and can be found on the the Webscorer website Results ID# 192896.
There are probably other personal bests, if you did one let me know and I will publish it. The Newmarket Eagles due to the fine results of our time trialists won the Inter-Club Trophy. Well done Eagles.
Thanks to our volunteers: Mike Grimes at the turn and fixing Andrew's chain, Lisa Zalewski, John Blunsdon and me as spotters while dodging mosquitoes, and Sarah Grimes as time keeper. This concludes time trialing for 2019. It was a good season despite the cold wet May and June. A big Shout Out to all those who participated and volunteered, you made it happen. I am looking forwards to the time trialing season in 2020.
