Time Trials Are Back! McCpowan TT
On Saturday, June 26th the 2021 Time Trial season commenced at our McCowan Road course. 3 riders competed in Heat 1. Pter Henry was in fine mid season form turning in a time of 21:53.6. JD power was second at 22:42.2, followed by the fastest woman Paolina Allan in a surprising time of 23:13.6.
There were 8 riders in Heat 2 which was won by Alex Neyshtadt in an excellent time of 23:24.4, followed closely by Alex Corry at 23:58.5, and Andrew Sxafranski at 24:02.6. All were on TT bikes. Gord Grimes was the ony road bike rider an he did a personal best of 31:05. The second fastest woman was Sue McCallum who came in at 28:33.7.
Thanks to our volunteers, Mark Kielhauer who worked the turn for Heat 1, and Andrew Darke for Heat 2. Andrew Sxanfranski was the timekeeper for Heat 1, and I did Heat 2. Unfortunately my screen was rather dim which gave me trouble reading it and activating the push buttons. Then a rider forgot to line up and I missed his absence which caused a timekeeping boondoggle. So the moral of the story is to always use your computer in case the timekeeper blows it! All the snafus that could have happened are out of my system, I will do better next week at Kennedy Road.
Notes on the TT format

Plan your vacation carefully. If you want to get in some preliminary training, freshened markings have been applied on the courses. Stay safe and keep well.
Hill Climb Tomorrow
On Wednesday at 7:00 PM the first Hill Climb of the season will take place at the Bathurst Street Hill. Today I marked the Start -Finish lines in orange paint. The road was been re-surfaced and the texture is different. The road has a fine gravel surface that makes it rougher than last year's pavement, but it has a better grip. You won't spin your tires! The course is 1.9 km this year, with the first 800 metres being flat. Parking is available at the school on the south side. We will have to move the cones aside at the gate, make certain the last person leaving resets them to block public access. There is rain and thunderstorms in the forecast tomorrow, if necessary I will issue a cancellation notice tomorrow between 2 and 4 PM. The registration sheets for next week's TT and the Hill Climb are ready for entries.
