McCowan TT Report  July 31

Yesterday 13 riders rode the McCowan TT. The weather was fantastic with the sun shining and a high of 18C. The wind was light for Heat 1, and it became somewhat gusty for the second Heat. Peter Henry was the fastest finisher in Heat 1 with a time of 21:19.7, followed by JD Power at 21:50.9, and Bill Ross 22:19.9. Dan Horchik on a road bike came in at 24:34.3. In the Heat 2 Steve Quennneville on his TT bike making a rare TT appearance came in at 24:36.3. Gord Grimes won the senior division battle over Andrew Darke with a time of 31:10.5. Thanks to our volunteers: Steve Quenneville at the turnaround for Heat 1, Bill Ross for Heat 2, and Andrew Szafranski timing Heat 2.  The results are posted below.  Next week we return to Kennedy Road, and I will require volunteers at the turnarounds. If you are available please let me know as soon as possible.

Barrie TT Report - July 27, 2021

8 riders made the trip to Barrie to take part in the Barrie TT.  It was a beautiful evening with barely a cloud in the sky, and virtually no wind to affect the outcome. However due to the recent precipitation, the humidity was at peak saturation, which was enough to affect Peter Henry’s performance.  Several quick times were posted and Gord Grimes posted another personal best. Jan Jensen made his first appearance at a TT this year, and posted an excellent time. Victor Tolgyessy volunteered his services at the turnaround which was most appreciated. Also Gord Grimes saved me from being eaten alive by clouds of mosquitoes thanks to his bug spray, and Jeff Lucyk located the turnaround for me. As I said volunteers make things happen. The results are below.

TT Race Schedule Issues

Due to the lower attendance, there was some discussion of combining the 2 Heats during August, but I decided it best to keep the schedule as it currently stands. We are still racing under the Covid conditions, which means the fastest riders must leave first at a 1 minute interval between riders so that there is no overtaking. If we exceed 20 riders, with the 1 minute interval, then timing the event becomes problematic, as riders would be arriving before all the departing riders have left.  In other words its business as usual.

 Yours in Time Trialing,

Bob Spencer
