Tonight 13 riders turned out for the McCowan ITT. The cloudy rainy weather must have had an impact on the attendance this evening. The storm clouds remained to the north of us, and the riders had to contend with a strong south-west wind with frequent gusts. Nevertheless some excellent times were posted.
A new rider Peter Van Schilling was the quickest road rider at 26:26.7, followed by Susan McCallum, and Sheryl Potter. In the TT Category Peter Henry was first in with a time of 20:58.2, followed by JD Power at 22:19.1 pipping Dave Pierce with a time of 22:28.9. JD is improving every week, good work JD!
Next week is the Club’s 15 km Championship ITT at Kennedy Road. A good turnout is expected. If you can volunteer to spot incoming riders or work at the turn, that would be most appreciated.
Last week there was a time keeping snafu at Pottageville. As we can't determine Zak Jackson's time accurately, we have decided that Peter Henry and Zak will be tied for first place.
Our participation at the TTs is down this year. The miserable weather in May and June was a factor, but now the conditions are great for time trialing. Last year our numbers improved largely due to the increased participation of the women. Their numbers have declined, and I hope to see a return to last years levels. Paolina is concerned as Sue and Sheryl need more female competition. Come on out join in the action. Our club is one of the few that hosts TTs, please take advantage of it. The results are posted below. They are also on the Webscorer website under Results, use ID #188260 to find them.
