The Racing Season continues...
Kennedy Road 15 km TT June 18, 2022
The TT was held under very challenging conditions. The wind was howling out of the northwest with strong gusts. The temperature was only 10C at the start, and it didn't warm up very much. 11 hardy, dedicated riders came out to test their mettle, and they succeeded in their quest for self improvement. JD Power was in first place in the TT Category at 21:53.0, however his margin of victory was only 11.4 seconds over Andrew Szafranski. Darren Vian was third at 22:51.4. Paolina Allen was the fastest women in fourth place at 23:10.2, while Karen Paterson was the second fastest woman at 24:27.4. Meanwhile Bruce Paterson regained the title of the fastest Paterson with an excellent time of 23:46.0. Don Smart made his return to Time Trialling winning the Road Bike category with a solid time of 26:20.5. Unfortunately Keith Richards battery lost its charge early in the TT, which derailed his charge to glory, and he had to retire.
A big thank you is in order for Scott Barbour who was the volunteer at the turnaround. He also recorded the split times in freezing conditions. Scott's data was excellent. The return leg (Split 2) was super fast due to the strong north wind. For instance JD averaged 45.9 k/h on the return leg.
Next Tuesday we return to Kennedy Road for the TT. The start time is 7:00 PM. I'm expecting a good turnout as the weather forecast is calling for a high of 31C!
