This message includes news of a rodeo coming to town with a portion of the proceeds going to support Point Man!
Point Man of Newburgh has news and events!
On Monday, March 1st, Point Man of Newburgh met both online and in-person. Those meeting in person were, once again, treated to a fantastic barbeque meal provided by our friends at Mission BBQ. Those, who participated in our drive-thru Christmas celebration were treated to a meal by Mission BBQ and they will honor Vietnam Vets with a free sandwich on National Vietnam Veterans’ Day on March 29th. Please remember our friends at Mission BBQ when you’re making dining choices.
Along with the meal, there were other meeting high points. Our PM president, Marke Parsons reviewed our renewed focus on specific Direct (Veteran and family) Support groups led by our Chaplain Danny Barr, Community Partnership teams led by Marke, and Fundraising Strategy activities led by Dan Oates. Each of these areas has room for Point Man volunteers. No experience is required.
Marke also announced that he would like to have the Vietnam Vets, who are planning on taking advantage of the Mission BBQ provided sandwiches, to plan on meeting as a group at 11:30 AM.
Attendee’s heard updates on veteran support activities through our Community Partner, SWIRCA, and the Gresham House. The construction of a downstairs bathroom will add to the Gresham House capacity.
Point Man has a lot going on! More detail will be revealed as we get closer, but we have the Freedom Isn’t Free II event coming up in October with two speakers scheduled to attend, who you will not want to miss. Medal of Honor recipient Sammy Davis will return to speak. In addition, our recent Zoom speaker, Jeff Struecker, will attend and speak at the event. Jeff is a pastor, an author, and former U.S. Army Ranger.

April 5th Meeting Plan:
There are two attendance options. The meeting will combine an in-person meeting at the Epworth United Methodist Church and an online meeting through the Zoom app. You may attend either way. (We will not be serving a meal before this meeting).
If you feel safe and you can support our COVID-19 policy, you are welcome to join us in-person at the Epworth UMC. Our COVID-19 policy requires that everyone wear a mask covering their nose and mouth. We also ask that participants practice social distancing with six feet of separation and do not hug or shake hands, please. Seating will be in the sanctuary. Participants should use every other pew, leaving an empty pew between. Hymnals are placed in the pews indicating spaced seating locations for individuals or couples.
The formal in-person meeting will begin at 1830 hrs and end at 1930 hrs at the Epworth United Methodist Church located at the corner of Epworth Road and Lincoln Avenue. (4455 Epworth Rd, Newburgh, IN).
If you feel unsafe or are uncomfortable with our safety policy, we understand. You are welcome to join us on-line.
The online meeting will be opened at 1800 hrs. This will allow new Zoom app users a little extra time to work through questions and for members to chat with each other. Participants’ microphones will be placed on mute when the meeting begins at 1830. They will be unmuted to ask questions or to respond to questions. (Please just wave your hand to be recognized and unmuted). Please click on this link to join the Zoom online conference:
First time Zoom users will see a prompt asking them to download Zoom app files. Please do this. The files are small, safe, and will download quickly.
If you have any concerns about connecting on Zoom, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or reply to this message and include "Zoom help" in the e-mail subject.
If you know an interested veteran, who is not on our distribution, you may forward this e-mail to them.
Please join us.
