First globally oriented grocery app is expanding

More and more grocery shoppers are using apps to assist the grocery shopping. Globally 15% of shoppers do this now and the according to a survey by the Nielsen Company 50% are willing to do so in the future. Grosh is the first globally oriented grocery shopping app, and it’s looking to grab this opportunity and become the favoured shopping companion. Today Grosh launches in 3 more countries, including South Africa.

Many use a shopping app from a local store. However, most people shop at several stores and a store specific app isn't really suited for that. Others use an English-language general shopping app, but they don’t handle local languages that well. Grosh is the first truly globally oriented general grocery shopping app.

The founder Soren Aldenryd explains: “Everyone has to eat and hence do grocery shopping. Most people live in households with more than one person, and using an app is the best method to capture and share the grocery shopping needs. We have the ambition to deliver a localised and intelligent grocery app that is the most efficient shopping solution.”

Grosh was launched just before Christmas and has started to spread across the world, see the map above with pins for cities where Grosh is used. Today the app is also launched in Slovakia, South Africa and Panama, and the plan is to continuously add new countries.

Unlike other grocery apps, Grosh is not just shipped un-tailored to new countries. When Grosh is launched in a new country, it comes pre-filled with a translated set of standard grocery items, categorisation of them, and a list of retailer chains that can be used for tagging grocery items to be bought at a specific store. As users start shopping with Grosh in the new country and language, the system learns more grocery item names, their category, what other stores are available etc - so it gets smarter the more the users use it.

Grosh can be downloaded for free from Google Play or Apple Appstore using this link (or use the attached QR code)
